Özet
Bu tezde İskoç Sağduyu Filozofu Thomas Reid'in geleneksel felsefeye yönelik olarak getirdiği eleştiriler ve bunların karşısına koyduğu sağduyu temelli düşünceleri incelenmiştir. Reid'in sağduyu temelli düşünceleri içerisinde algı ve duyum en önemli yeri kaplarlar. Duyu algısı dediğimiz şey, sağduyunun ilkelerine duyduğumuz koşulsuz güven doğrultusunda bizlere dışsal dünyanın inancını sunar. Bu süreç de mantıksal bir düşünme düzleminden sonra gerçekleşmez. Bu inançların yaratılması bizler için kaçınılmaz bir şeydir çünkü bizlerin doğası bunu dayatmaktadır. Thomas Reid de tüm bu bağlamlarda duyuma büyük bir önem atfetmektedir. Duyum en başta bizlerde inancı oluşturan en temel yetimizdir. Böylece Reid'in felsefesinde döneminde varolan akıl hegemonyası yerini duyuma ve duyu verilerine duyulan inanca ve insanlığın ortak ilkelerinin dolayımsız bilgisine bırakmıştır denebilir.

In this thesis, the criticisms brought by the Scottish Common Philosopher Thomas Reid towards traditional philosophy and his common sense-based thoughts were examined. Perception and sensation occupy the most important place in Reid's common sense-based thoughts. What we call the sense of perception offers us the belief of the external world in the direction of unconditional trust in our principles of common sense. This process does not happen after a logical level of thinking. The creation of these beliefs is inevitable for us because our nature imposes it. Thomas Reid attaches great importance to the sensation in all these contexts. The sensation is the most basic ability that creates belief in us. Thus, it can be said that the reason hegemony that existed in Reid's philosophy during his period left its place to the belief in sensation and sensory data and to the direct knowledge of the common principles of humanity.
