Özet
ÖZET 18. yüzyıl Aydınlanma döneminin iki önemli filozofu dogmatik Thomas Reid ve septik David Hume, Aydınlanmanın sağladığı bilimsel ve düşünsel rahatlık içince özgürce özgün eserler meydana getirmişlerdir. Dogmatizmin dini dogmalarla beslenen yönü ve kuşkuya yer vermeyen yapısı dikkate alındığında, septik öğreti ile düşünce tarihi boyunca neden birbirlerine karşıt ekoller olarak gösterildikleri anlaşılır. Septisizmin, evrende varolan herşeyi bir giz olarak nitelendirmesi ve sonunda bir yargıda bulunmayı imkansız hale getiren yapısı da değerlendirildiğinde septik filozoflarla dogmatik filozofların neden düşünce tarihi boyunca birbirlerini hasım olarak gördükleri de ortaya çıkacaktır. Ve bu yüzden eserlerinin mensup oldukları felsefi ekolleri yansıtan ve onlarla özdeşleştirilecek nitelikte olmasına özen göstermişlerdir. inancını ve sağduyu gibi doğuştan olduğunu iddia ettiği ilkeleri felsefesine temel kabul eden dogmatik Thomas Reid ile, her tür inancı, insanı zorlayan ve onları sorunlarla yüz yüze getirecek bir etken olarak gören; bu yüzden de dogmatizme meydan okuyan David Hume karşı karşıya getiren de bu felsefi ekollere aidiyetleri olmuştur. David Hume ile Thomas Reid'in karşıtlıkları aslında bir dönemdeki çatışmayı değil, düşünce tarihi boyunca sergilenen dogmatik ve septik çatışmayı gözönüne sermektedir. 113

SUMMARY The two most important philosophers of the 18th century's Enlightment; dogmatist Thomas Reid and sceptist David Hume produced their original works freely with the scientific and intellectual freedom of this term. Taking into consideration of the aspects of dogmatism which are maintained by religious dogmas and its structure which is not contain scepticism, it is understood easily why dogmatism and scepticism are accepted contrary doctrines throughout the intellectual history. Scepticism's description about everything which are existing in universe a secret and its structure which makes it impossible to take a judgment show us why dogmatists and scepticists are antagonists during the intelellectual history. And for this reason they paid attention to their works characteristics reflecting their philosophical doctrines and identifying to them. Their membership to the philosophical doctrines mentioned above made opposite dogmatist Thomas Reid who has accepted his belief and his common sense thesis from birth which are both fundemental basis of his philosophy and David Hume who challenge dogmatism because of his thought which considers every kind of belief exerting human and thinking them as a factor meeting human many problems. Actually their opposition does not show a conflict occured on a specific period, it shows a conflict between dogmatism and scepticism. 114
