Özet
Osmanlı Devleti'nde bugünkü sosyal devlet anlayışına göre devletin görevleri arasında yer alan birçok kamu hizmeti, vakıflar aracılığıyla yürütülmüştür. Eğitimden sağlığa ulaşımdan ticarete kadar birçok alandaki hizmetler vakıflar aracılığıyla icra edilmiştir. Bu hizmetlerin yürütülmesi için bağışta bulunanlar arasında valide sultanlar da vardır. Valide sultanlar kendi gelirleriyle vakıflar kurarak, halkın birçok alandaki ihtiyaçlarını gidermeye çalışmışlardır. Bezmiâlem de bu valide sultanlar arasında yer almış, hatta en çok vakıf eseri ortaya koyan valide sultan olmuştur. Vakfettiği eserlerle günümüzde hala hayırla yâd edilmeye devam etmektedir. Onun eğitim alanında vakfettiği eserlerden biri olan Osmanlı Devleti'nin modern tarzda inşa edilen ilk mektep binası olan Dâru'l-Maârif Mektebi, çalışmamızın ana konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Osmanlı Devleti'nin modern tarzda inşa edilen ilk mektep binası, ilk idâdîsi ve ilerleyen yıllarda ilk kız ortaöğretim kurumu olmasıyla Dâru'l-Maârif Mektebi, Osmanlı eğitim tarihinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Tarihi seyrinde ismi ve eğitim kademesi değişse de okul olarak kullanılmaya devam eden mektep binası, günümüzde Cağaloğlu Anadolu Lisesi olarak eğitime devam etmektedir. Çalışmamız, Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan'ın hayatını ve vakıf eserlerini incelemeyi, vakfettiği eserlerin zaman içindeki değişimlerini ve günümüzdeki işlevlerini ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir. Bezmiâlem'in sosyal, kültürel, ilmî ve dinî alanlardaki faaliyetleri tarihi vesikalarla ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmamızın devamında ise ana konumuzu teşkil eden 19. yüzyıl Osmanlı eğitim sisteminde önemli bir yere sahip olan Dâru'l-Maârif Mektebi'nin tarihî süreci, mektep personeli, mektebin devamı için vakfedilen mülkler, mektepte okutulan dersler ve mektep kütüphanesi gibi mevzular ayrıntılarıyla ortaya konulmaktadır.

In the Ottoman Empire, many public services, which are among the duties of the state according to today's social state understanding, were carried out by foundations. Services related to many fields such as education, health, transportation and trade were offered to the public through foundations. There are also queen mothers (valide sultan) among those who donate to carry out these services. Queen mothers tried to fulfil the needs of the people in many areas by establishing foundations with their own income. Bezmiâlem was also among these queen mothers and she was even the queen mother who produced the most foundation work. She still continues to be remembered with gratitude with the works she devoted. Dâru'l-Maârif School, which is one of the works she devoted in the field of education, the first school building of the Ottoman Empire built in a modern style, is the main subject of our study. Dâru'l-Maârif School has an important place in the history of Ottoman education, as it was the first school building of the Ottoman Empire built in a modern style, the first high school and the first secondary school for girls in the following years. The school building, which continues to be used as a school, holding its education today as Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School, although its name and education level have changed in its historical course. Our study aims to examine the life and foundation works of Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan, and to reveal the changes of the works she donated over time and their current functions. Bezmiâlem's activities in social, cultural, scientific and religious fields have been tried to be revealed with historical documents. Thereafter the historical process of Dâru'l-Maârif School, which has an important place in the 19th century Ottoman education system, the teaching staff, the properties dedicated to the continuation of the school, the courses taught in the school and the school library are studied in detail.
