Construction of a Database Management System for an Automotive Parts Supplier Firm ABSTRACT It is a strongly challenging reality with which most contemporary organizations have to deal that the lack of management of necessary information will lead into losses by any means and sometimes impossible to compensate. Today's organizations possess a variety of data types. The data, which may be briefly defined as“raw information”, most of the time are required to be handled within a computerized environment. Because of their huge numbers, and the need to higher access speed and accuracy. This further requires an appropriate management system to be defined and implemented. And that kind of requirement in EMOPAR A.Ş, an electro-mechanical automotive parts supplier firm, happened to be initiating factor of this thesis study. In the first chapter, an introduction to the study and the database systems is presented. Second chapter is devoted to explain the system handled, with some details about data types and structures. The development phases of the study, a number of sample queries and sample runs with typical user screens are concluded in third chapter. Probable future developments to this study are mentioned in fourth chapter. The conclusion and references sections follow these chapters. Some parts of the software codes written in Visual Basic language and some frequently used SQL statements are given as appendices.
