Próba 30 studentów (17 mężczyzn i 13 kobiet) wypełniła Kwestionariusz Schematu Younga (wersja krótka) i Skalę depresji Becka.
The aim of the study is to examine the predictive relation of early maladaptive schemas with depression and their plausible effects on gender differences in depression, a sample of 30 (17 males and 13 females) undergraduate students completed the Young's Schema Questionnaire (short form) and the Beck Depression Inventory. The participants were aged from 18 to 26 (M = 22, SD = 2.72), with Turkish, Iranian, and Arab ethnicities. Consistent with previous findings, the results supported the hypothesis and indicated that abandonment and defectiveness early maladaptive schemas were significant predictors of depressive symptoms severity. Furthermore, the mediating effects of abandonment and defectiveness on gender differences in depression were examined. Results demonstrated that the strength of gender in predicting depression was significantly reduced when abandonment or defectiveness were statistically controlled. In short, the current study identified abandonment and defectiveness as cognitive risk factors that, in part, account for the gender differences in depression
