As a result of technological developments, significant changes have been seen in many areas including intellectual rights. In this research, intellectual rights over the musical works and ever increasing piracy issues have been examined. This research consists of five main parts. The first part explains the methodology used in the research. In the second part, general aspects and theories justifying the intellectual property rights have been analysed. The copyright law development has reviewed in the fourth part complying with the international, regional and national legislations. The challenges resulted from the digital music era are investigated in the fifth part and finally, the sixth part reviews the privacy prevention methods in detail.
