Özet
Dans le Timée, Platon affirme que l'âme du monde est non seulement le principe de mouvement de tous les mouvements mais également qu'elle est automotrice. Quant à Aristote, il manifeste qu'il n'est pas seulement faux que l'âme soit en elle-même un mouvement ou soit capable de se déplacer, mais qu'il est impossible que le mouvement appartienne à l'âme. Cette étude se propose d'abord d'expliciter la signification de l'âme du monde dans le Timée, et pourquoi ce concept est négligé par Aristote dans le Traité du ciel. Ainsi, on se focalisera sur la manière dont l'âme du monde est comprise dans De l'âme I et sur la définition aristotélicienne de l'âme afin de répondre à la question de savoir si l'âme est un principe immobile de tous les mouvements dans l'univers, ou si elle représente le principe fondamentalement automoteur de tous les mouvements. In the Timaeus, Plato asserts that the world-soul is not only the principle of movement of all kinds of movements but also that it is self-propelled. As for Aristotle, he shows that it is not only false that the soul must be itself a movement or capable of moving, but that it is impossible that the movement belongs to the soul. This study first aims to show the meaning of the worldsoul in Timaeus, and why this concept is neglected by Aristotle in On the Heavens. Thus and secondly we shall focus on how the world-soul is understood in On the Soul I and what the definition of the soul is according to Aristotle, in order to answer the following question: is the soul a motionless principle of all movements in the universe or is it the fundamentally selfpropelled principle of all movements.
