Climate change effect has led to an increase in the tendency of renewable energy in developed and developing countries. Regarding with climate change diverse effects, many of the governments provide subsidies to renewable energy companies. There is a transition in terms of subsidies from old school energy, which is fuel, gas and coal, to renewable energy in Turkey. This research will examine why governments change their attitude on energy sector and its interventions. In the background, rather than climate change effect, political and economic factors play a vitally important role in government's attitude on this transition in Turkey. Furthermore, this revolution on subsidies may have an impact on fuel, gas and coal companies in several terms and both energy subsidies may have negative impacts on the goal of sustainable development of countries and environment. Some types of energy subsidies today run counter to the goal of sustainable development. Such as, subsidies often lead to higher consumption and waste and a heavy burden on government finance and pose an obstacle for governments economic growth. Therefore, abolishing or reforming renewable and old school energy subsidies might be best way to reach sustainable development goals in both developed and developing countries.
