Background: For Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), amnesia is regarded as a trademark of dissociation. Even though a number of studies were conducted to investigate betweenidentity memory transfer research, there is very limited amount of studies on within identity memory. In addition, none of the conducted research centred self-relevant information. It is important to explore self-relevance in DID to contribute to ongoing memory research and develop psychotherapeutic treatment techniques. The aim of the present study is to explore the consistency of the performance of individuals with DID on recognizing words that selected according to self-relevance and trauma-relatedness. Methods: The study was designed four-factored, aiming to reveal the interaction of participant groups, identity states, word types, and sessions. Participants were aged between 18-65, all women. In addition to individuals with DID, two control groups, one of which simulating DID, were recruited. The data were collected using a computer programme during fMRI scanning and after fMRI scanning. Results: The results indicated that, individuals with DID are similar to controls while reporting self-relevant and non-self-relevant information. In addition, they are significantly more consistent while reporting other identity state's trauma as“non-selfrelevant”. However, their consistency in reporting self-relevant information can fluctuate, especially aftermath of encountering with a traumatic event. Conclusions: Individuals with DID are consistent in reporting self-relevant information, however their memory can fluctuate after a traumatic event. This study could be a good step for future DID research that centres self-relevant information. In addition, it would be quite useful for clinicians working with DID patients, especially for the therapists who are using exposure techniques to overcome the trauma in DID
