Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmada öğrenci merkezli yöntemlerle sosyal bilgiler dersi öğretimi üzerinde durulmuştur. Sosyal Bilgiler öğretiminde çeşitlilik esastır. Yapılan araştırmalar çeşitlilikten yoksun, tek düze, ezbere bir eğitimin Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde kaygıya yol açtığını ve başarıyı olumsuz yönde etkilediğini, değişik metodlar kullanıldığında başarının arttığını göstermiştir. Acaba öğretmenin araç- gereçlerle Sosyal Bilgiler dersini işlemesi öğrencilerin başarısını arttırmakta mıdır? Araştırmamızın problemini bu cümle oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma, ilköğretim okulu dördüncü sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde araç-gereç kullanılıp, öğrenciler aktif kılınarak programlandırılmış öğretim yapılan grubun, geleneksel öğretim yapılan gruba göre daha başarılı olup olmadığını ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, 1997-1998 öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Kadıköy ilçesi Şehit Öğretmen Mehmet Fidan İlköğretim Okulu'nun 4-A ve 4-B sınıflarında toplam 78 denekle yapılmıştır. Bu araştırma deneme modeline uygun olarak yapılmış, anket ve bilgi testi uygulanmıştır. İstatistik hesaplamalarda frekans, yüzde dağılımları, aritmetik ortalama ve t testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verilerine göre; - Araç-gereçlerle ve öğrenci katılımı ile ders işleme başarıyı olumlu yönde etkilemektedir. - Yeni metodlara yer verildikçe derslerdeki başarı artmaktadır. - Öğrenci merkezli ve araç-gereçlere yer verilen öğretim yöntemleri,geleneksel öğretim yöntemlerine göre, daha büyük bir oranda kalıcı izli davranış değişikliği sağlamaktadır. - Uygulama yapılan okulda araç-gereç yapımı ve kullanımı üzerinde yeterince durulmamakta, genellikle ezbere öğretim yöntemi ile yetinilmektedir. - Deney grubunda uygulanan yöntemle öğrenciler yaparak-yaşayarak ve tüm duyu organlarını kullanarak öğrenmektedir. Duyu organlarının kullanımı ve katılım arttıkça öğrenme daha kalıcı olmakta ve dersler daha cazip hale gelmektedir. Bu yüzden öğretmenler, öğrenci merkezli eğitime ve araç-gereç kullanımına olanak sağlayan aktivitelere daha fazla yer vermelidir. Sosyal Bilgiler dersi mihver ders olduğu için diğer derslerle de desteklenmelidir. Yapılan araştırmanın bu güne kadar yapılan araştırmalara bir katkı ve yapılacak olan yeni araştırmalara ise yardımcı olacağı umulmaktadır.

SUMMARY This study is interested in teaching social studies with student based approach. Variety is based on social studies education. Researches show that without variation and with memorizing creates anxiety and effect success in negative way studying of social studies education, but using different methods show that the success is increased. Does the social studies supplied with tools and materials increase student's success? This sentence forms our research. The purpose of this research is to learn about differences of success level between two groups of students who are in 4lh classes of elementary school. First group of students is trained using tools and materials with students based approach while the other group (of students) is trained with traditional methods. The research has been accomplished on 78 students who are attending in 4-A and 4-B classes of Şehit Öğretmen Mehmet Fidan İlköğretim Okulu which is located in Kadıköy-İstanbul. This research has been performed according to the test model and information tests and a distribution of inquiry are applied. For statistical calculations, frequency, percentage, aritmethical value and T test are used. According to the findings of the reseacrh; - Education with tools and materials which is done in students based approach increases the success of the students.- Using the new methods increase the success in the subjects. - Student based education and the methods supplied with tools and materials provide the changes of the students' behaviour much better than the traditional education methods. - In the school where the research has been permormed, there were no impression for manufacturing and using the tools and materials and memorized baset teaching method are generally excuted. - With method acomplished on test group, the students learn the subjects by using their sensing organs as well as actually performance. - As the usage of sensing organs increase education more efficient and lessons make the education more attractive. For this reason teachers should use students based teaching method and should prefer activities by using tools and materials more and more. Social studies lessons are considered as main lessons and they should be supported with other subjects. It is hoped that this research provides an additional information to the researches that has been performed up to now and it will help to the new researches which will be performed in the future. VI
