Özet

Öteki kavramı insanlık tarihi kadar eski bir kavramdır. Öteki, sosyal bilimler içerisinde çokça tartışılan bir konudur. Bireyin kendini tanımlayıp tamamlayabilmesi ve bireysel, toplumsal kimlik oluşturabilmesi için kendinden olmayana ihtiyacı vardır. Bu ihtiyacı öteki kavramı karşılamaktadır. Öteki kavramına iki türlü yaklaşım öne çıkmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımlardan ilki ötekini dışlayıp, asimile ederek kendi içinde yok etmedir ve kendinden olmayanı kendine benzetme temeline dayanır. İkinci yaklaşım ise bireyin ve toplumların kendini var edebilmesi için ötekine ihtiyacı olduğu temeline dayanır. Bu yaklaşım ile öteki benimsenip kabul edilmekte ve zenginlik olarak görülmektedir. Her iki yaklaşım da hem bireysel hem toplumsal hayatta tehlike arz edecek özelliktedir. Diğerini yok etme temelli yaklaşım ötekini bitirmekte böylece toplum tek tipleşmektedir. Ötekine saygı duyan yaklaşım ise bireyi ve toplumu evrenselleştirmekte ve yerel özelliklerinden uzaklaştırmaktadır. Masallarda bu iki yaklaşımı da görmek mümkündür. Geçmişten günümüze kadar birçok masal araştırması ve tanımı yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmalar metin ve bağlam merkezli kuramlar çerçevesindedir. Masal, masal anlatıcısı, dinleyicisi, masalın icra edildiği ortam olmak üzere üç ana temele bağlı olarak oluşmaktadır. Bu üç unsur masalın nesilden nesile aktarımını sağlamaktadır. Bu aktarım sırasında hem kültürel ögelerin hem de bireysel, toplumsal kimliğin oluşumunu ve aktarımı söz konusudur. Kimlik oluşum sürecinde öteki ve öteki kavramına bireyin ve toplumun bakış açısını tespit etmek mümkündür. Öteki kavramı bireylerin ve toplumların savunma mekanizmasının oluşmasını sağlamaktadır. Gelecek nesillerin öteki kavramı üzerinden korunması söz konusudur. Kendinden olmayanı tanıyan bireyler, ötekinden gelecek tehlikelere karşı nasıl önem almaları gerektiği hakkında da dolaylı yoldan bilgi sahibi olmaktadırlar. Halk bilimi çalışmalarının temelinde de bulunan kendinden olmayanı fark etme, tanıma ve kolektif kimlik oluşturma süreci masallarda açık bir şekilde görülmektedir.

The concept of the other is as old as human history. It is a widely debated topic in the social sciences. An individual needs someone other than oneself to define and complete herself and to create an individual and social identity. This need is met by the concept of the other. There are two approaches to the concept of the other. The first of these approaches is to exclude and assimilate the other and destroy within itself. It is based on the principle of imitating ones other than oneself. The second approach is based on that individuals and societies need others to exist. With this approach, the other is adopted, accepted, and seen as wealth. Both approaches can be dangerous in both individual and social life. The approach based on destroying the other ends the other, so the society becomes uniform. The approach that respects the other, on the other hand, universalizes the individual and society and removes them from their local characteristics. It is possible to see both approaches in tales. Many tale studies and definitions have been made from the past to the present. These studies have been conducted within the framework of text and context-centered theories. A tale consists of three main components: the storyteller, the listener, and the environment in which the tale is narrated. These three elements ensure the transmission of the tale through generations. During this transfer, tales contribute to the transfer of both cultural elements and the formation of individual and social identity. It is possible to determine the perspective of the individual and society on the concept of the other and the other in the identity formation process. The concept of the other provides the formation of the defense mechanism of individuals and societies. It is in question to protect future generations through the concept of the other. Future generations are protected through the concept of the other. Individuals who recognize the ones other than themselves indirectly have information about how they should take care of the possible dangers from the other. The process of recognizing the ones other than oneself, identifying them, and creating a collective identity -the basis of folklore studies- is clearly seen in tales. In this study, the concepts of identity and the other in tales will be investigated by associating them with cultural memory.
