XII

Özet (Çeviri)

SUMMARY MIXED FINITE ELEMENT FORMULATION FOR STIFFENED PLATES The stiffened plates are common structural elements and they are widely employed in structural engineering applications.. Theoretical solution of stiffened plates is a difficult problem. To simplify the problem some assumption is accepted. Different types of calculation systems have developed during the past years. After the digital computer systems developed more realistic solutions have obtained for this problem. One of the popular method is“Finite Element Method”by employing digital computer. The Finite Element Method has large applications in engineering field. For stiffened plates this method have been applied successfully by many researchers. To study the stiffened plates the following basic steps are necessary, 1) Mathematical formulation of physical process 2) Numerical solution of the mathematical model. In this study, a new Finite Element Method RPP9 and RBP9 are developed for stiffened plates. By idealising stiffened plate element with two parts, plate element and beam element, a new mathematical model developed for this problem. First, two new functionals for Reissner plates and beam elements with geometric and dynamic boundary conditions have been obtained by using Gateaux differential approach. These functionals are transformable to the classical energy equations.. In the beam element the lateral bending moments yields torsion and this approach give opportunity to obtain the torsional moment in the beam element. As far as author knowledge this problem is not studied in the literature by another researcher. Following assumptions are considered. 1) Material is linearly elastic. 2) Lateral stresses are not neglected ( o\, xm, tyz ). 3) In equilibrium equations the volume forces are neglected. 4) Bernoulli-Navier hypothesis is valid. Cross-sections of plate remain plane and perpendicular to the middle surface after deformation. Depending on these assumptions the plate equations are obtained as follows, XIII3Qy âQx Tx ax 12 Eh- h4 Mx-nMy--nq (3.1) da. 12 dy Eh* h< My-nMx--iiq \ ay ax g^“v ^ dw 6 n x dx 5Gh*x ^ dw 6 ”ny+J-y'WhQy where, D = E h / 12 (1-ur ), G = E / 2 ( 1+u, ). Dynamic boundary conditions, M-M = 0 A 2-0 = 0 geometric boundary conditions, (3.2) A -w + w = 0 (3.3) written in symbolic form. Quantities with hat are known values on the boundary. In the same way beam equations are obtained with torsional moment in the beam as follows, tidy ^xv XIV32v 32, dC2x 12 <?* Ehx3 x dQ. y 12 dy Ehy3 y M“ = 0 (5.1) dQx 6 M”,=0 dy Gh/ *y âü. âx nv + Q..+ y 6 jMb=0 Gb aw ~dx~ 5Ghx^x aw 6 Qx-o 3y+-y-l?iryQy'° Dynamic boundary conditions and geometric boundary conditions are the same in plate element as (3.2) and (3.3). Reissner plate and beam element equations can be written in operator form as, Q = Ly -f and proving potential by using equation (3.7), the tunctionals can get from equation (3.11). \y) = \[Q(v>y)>y\b (3-11) 0 where“s”is a scalar. For Reissner plates the tunctionals will be, I(u) = A^QXix+Qyty),w.X 6_ Eh' [mx,x +Mxy>y)nx]-[{My>y +A/v,i)i2K]+[fir.i2r] Qy,ny]-^j{[Mx,Mx}+[My,My] + 2(l+ npi^My) - 2fi[My,Mx]} (3.12) XVand for beam plates the Junctionals will be, W =-[(&, +Ö>J^H(m*,x +M^y)^x]-[{My>y +Mb>x),ny]+[Qx,nx] ^Qy,ny] -^-j{[Mx,Mx\ +(;+ M)[Mb,Mb]} ~[[MyMy\ -(/+ m)[mv,Mv]} {tar.aj}--^[0v.ej-fc^^ 5G/jv (5.8) so with these two functions the stiifened plates are solved. In this study these two functions used separately. Because of functional have first derivative, bilinear shape functions would be used to satisfy the completeness and compatibility conditions for Reissner plates and beam elements. 2b 1 2 G ? 4 I- 2a ?H Figure 6.1. Rectangular element in global & natural coordinate systems General shape function is, j,=±(l±Ç){l±t,) and for four nodes this shape function will be as, t4 = ±{l+Ç)(l+Tj) (6.1) (6.3) XVIThe plate and the beam elements has four nodes and at each node four moments, two shear force, two rotation and one displacement are defined. Totally in one element there are 36 unknowns. After developing finite element formulation for RPP9 and RBP9, a personal computer program written in Fortran programming language for the analysis stiffened plates. To check the validity of approach, first the height of beam-plate element is taken as the height of plate element. The system worked as a plate and the results are good agreement with the theoretical results for plates. Then the height of beam increased step by step and in the end this part of system become rigid. The place of the beam is defined by the ratio of c/a where c is the beginning of beam element on plate. The solutions are obtained for c/a = 0, c/a = 0,35 and c/a = 0,5. Also the problem is solved for a plate which is stiffened by two side beams. The solutions for bending moments and deflection is shown in graphs and tables with rigidity ratio. Addition to these the torsional moments are calculated along the beam element length. The numerical results are tabulated in tables and depicted in figures. As far as author knowledge this problem is not studied in the literature by another researcher. XVII
