Özet (Çeviri)
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between death anxiety and religiosity. As death is a social and biological reality that affects everyone, it was collected through an anonymous online survey using google forms, based on a snowball sample of 461 participants, to identify differences in death anxiety and death attitudes across demographics of different age, gender, and religion. This questionnaire was conducted using the Intrinsic Religiosity Scale, the Religious Coping Scale, and the Death Anxiety Scale. One of the results of this study is that older participants have lower death anxiety than younger participants. It has also been found that women have higher death anxiety than men. More religious people are thought to have a positive relationship with death anxiety; however, this study did not conclude that religiosity had any effect on death anxiety. However, a strong correlation was found between the level of religiosity and religious coping. Another interesting finding of this study is that there is no relationship between those who lost their lives during the coronavirus epidemic and death concerns. This finding shows that death anxiety depends on individual experiences and living conditions, although anxiety about death increases especially during the pandemic period. In addition, no significant difference was found between age groups in terms of religious coping. This shows that religious coping methods do not differ according to age. In conclusion, this study is an important step in investigating the relationship between death anxiety and religiosity. The findings show that death anxiety can vary depending on personal and cultural factors and the level of religiosity does not directly affect death anxiety. The results of this study are important for developing greater understanding of death and death anxiety and improving mental health practices.
