Özet
Hafızanın muhafaza etme güdüsü değişim ve devinim ile gerilimli bir temasa tabidir. Mekânın tabakası bu gerilim anının en yüksek haliyken, anımsama ile kentsel belleği şimdiki zamana dahil etme çabasındadır. Kentsel koruma yaklaşımları kolektifin ürettiği belleği çok yönlü yaklaşımla ele alırken, toplumun tanıklığını yapmış mekânlara temkinli yaklaşmaktadır. Mevcut kentsel dokunun yeni ile uyumlu birlikteliği mekânın daimiliği için önem arz etmektedir. Kentsel bellek ve mekânsal değişim arasındaki ilişkinin irdelenmesi için Beyoğlu özelinde İstiklal Caddesi'nde yer alan pasajlar seçilmiştir. Beyoğlu kendini tümüyle ifşa etmeye kapalı yapısıyla mekânın okunmasına ve deneyimlenmesine dair cazip yaklaşımlar sunmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, modern kentleşme hareketlerinin ve devamında getirdiği yeni kentsel politikaların mevcut kentsel dokudaki temsil alanlarından olan pasajların palimpsest yaklaşımı ile mekânsal değişimlerinin okunması amaçlanmaktadır. Kent üzerinde yürütülen politikalar kentsel bellek üzerinde koparıcı noktalar yaratırken; kolektif olarak üretilen ve anlam yüklenen mekânlarda silikleştirici etki yarattığı savunulmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımla kentsel belleğin palimpsest temsili olarak; çok katmanlı kent dokusuna tabi olan Beyoğlu İstiklal Caddesi boyunca konumlanmış pasajlar, mekânsal ve sosyal ilişkiler bağlamında önemli inceleme mekânlarını temsil etmektedir. Araştırma süreci boyunca alan hakkında yürütülen çalışmalar, kitaplar, gözlem ve görüşmelerden faydalanırken; mekânsal değişimin niceliksel bağlamda okunmasına olanak sunan eski ve mevcut haritalardan mekânsal izlerin tespit edilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Öncelikle kentsek belleğin mekânsal değişim üzerinden okunması için metaforik eşleştirme yaklaşımına gidilerek palimpsest yöntemi seçilirken bu analiz yönteminin çözümlenmesi için ilişkili kavramsal yaklaşımlar tespit edilmiş an, iz ve devinim kavramları ayrıntılı incelemeye alınmıştır. Böylelikle hem mekâna hem mekânın analiz yöntemine dair çalışmayı yönlendirerek derinlemesine bir irdeleme süreci hedeflenmiştir. Sonraki aşama olarak Beyoğlu'nun mekânsal ve toplumsal değişimi ele alınırken pasajların kentsel bağlamda önemi ve mekânsal ilişkileri üzerinden okumalara gidilmiştir. Tüm bu değerlendirme sürecinin sonucunda pasajların; kentsel belleğin ve belirli bir dönemin önemli temsil mekânları iken mekânsal ve ilişkisel sürdürülebilirliklerinin bir kısmının kaybolduğu ile mevcut izlerin kentin belleğinde ve gündelik hayatında giderek silikleştiği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The memory's drive to preserve is subject to a tense contact with change and movement. While the layer of space is the highest state of this moment of tension, it strives to incorporate reminiscence and urban memory into the present. While urban conservation approaches deal with the memory produced by the collective with a multi-faceted approach, they approach cautiously to the spaces that have witnessed the society. The harmonious coexistence of the existing urban fabric with the new is important for the permanence of the space. In order to examine the relationship between urban memory and spatial change, the passages on İstiklal Street in Beyoğlu were selected. Beyoğlu offers attractive approaches to reading and experiencing the space with its structure that is closed to revealing itself completely. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to read the spatial changes of the passages, which are the representation areas in the existing urban fabric, of the modern urbanization movements and the new urban policies that they brought in its continuation, with the palimpsest approach. While the policies carried out on the city create breaking points on the urban memory; It is argued that it creates a fading effect on spaces that are collectively produced and loaded with meaning. With this approach, as the palimpsest representation of urban memory; The passages located along Beyoğlu Istiklal Street, which is subject to the multi-layered urban fabric, represent important study spaces in the context of spatial and social relations. While benefiting from studies, books, observations and interviews conducted on the field during the research process; It is aimed to determine the spatial traces from the old and existing maps that allow the spatial change to be read in a quantitative context. First of all, the palimpsest method was chosen by using the metaphorical matching approach to read the urban memory through spatial change, while the related conceptual approaches were determined for the analysis of this analysis method, and the concepts of moment, trace and motion were examined in detail. Thus, an in-depth examination process was aimed by directing the study on both the space and the analysis method of the space. As the next step, while the spatial and social change of Beyoğlu is discussed, the importance of the passages in the urban context and their spatial relations have been read. As a result of all this evaluation process, the passages; It was concluded that while they were important representation spaces of urban memory and a certain period, some of their spatial and relational sustainability were lost and the existing traces gradually faded in the memory and daily life of the city.
