Özet

Giriş ve Amaç; Çok uluslu tütün şirketleri, bazı tütün ürünlerini daha cazip kılıp, özellikle gençlere pazarlama gayretindedir. Bu durumu üniversite gençlerinde değerlendirmek için bu tez çalışması yapılmıştır. Bu tezin amacı; Kocaeli Üniversitesi'nde eğitim gören Sağlık ve Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinde alternatif tütün ürünlerinin kullanım sıklığını tespit edebilmek, kullanımını sağlayan faktörleri araştırmak, hakkındaki bilgi düzeylerini değerlendirmek ve ülkemizin tütünle mücadelesi hakkındaki fikirlerini değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem; Çalışmamız kesitsel tanımlayıcı tiptedir. Çalışmamız hata payı %5 ve beklenen tütün kullanım sıklığı %31,6 olarak öngörülerek(12), %97 güven aralığında Open Epi Size üzerinden yapılan hesaplama ile 419 kişi olarak belirlendi. Anketimiz Google Form üzerinden gerçekleşmiştir. Öğrencilere ders arası yüz yüze veya Whatsapp grupları üzerinden ulaşılmıştır. Bulgular; Katılımcıların %16,2'si (n=68) e-sigarayı, %35,1'i (n=147) nargileyi, %24,8'i (n=104) sarma tütünü, %19,8'i (n=83) puroyu, en az bir kez kullanmıştır. Katılımcının e-sigara ve nargileyi en sık kullanma sebebi merak/deneme isteği olmuştur. İkinci en sık kullanma nedeni aromatik tattan dolayıdır. Nargile kullanımında en göze çarpan kullanım nedeni arkadaş ve kafe ortamıdır. Sarma tütünde ise en sık kullanım nedeni daha ucuz olmasıdır. Çalışmamızda alternatif tütün ürünleri kullanımı, cinsiyetle ilişkisi istatiksel olarak anlamsızdır. Sigara kullanımı ile alternatif tütün ürünleri kullanımı arası ilişki istatiksel anlamlıdır. Alternatif tütün ürünlerinden herhangi iki tütün ürünü kullanımı arasında anlamlı ilişki vardır. Yapılan diğer çalışmalara yakın oranda alternatif tütün ürünü kullanımı tespit edildi. Kullanım nedenleri diğer çalışmalarla aynıdır. Çalışmamızda alternatif tütün ürünleri hakkındaki önermelere daha bilinçli cevap verilmiştir. Sonuç; Alternatif tütün ürünleri gençler arasında hızla yayılan bir salgındır. Bu salgının engellenmesi için daha çok çalışma yapılması gerekir.

Introduction and Aim; multinational tobacco companies are trying to make some tobacco products more attractive and market them especially to young people. This thesis was conducted to evaluate this situation in university students. The aim of this thesis is to determine the frequency of use of alternative tobacco products, to investigate the factors that enable the use of alternative tobacco products, to evaluate the level of knowledge about them and to evaluate the ideas about the fight against tobacco in our country. Materials and Method; Our study is cross-sectional descriptive type. Our study was determined as 419 people with a margin of error of 5% and an expected tobacco use frequency of 31.6% (12), with a calculation made on Open Epi size with a 97% confidence interval. Our survey was conducted via Google Form. Students were reached face-to-face between classes or through Whatsapp groups. Results; 16.2% (n=68) of the participants used e-cigarettes, 35.1% (n=147) used hookah, 24.8% (n=104) used rolling tobacco, 19.8% (n=83) used cigar at least once. The most common reason for the participant to use e-cigarettes and hookah was curiosity / desire to try. The second most common reason for use was aromatic taste. The most prominent reason for hookah use is friends and café environment. The most common reason for rolling tobacco is that it is cheaper. In our study, the relationship between the use of alternative tobacco products and gender was statistically insignificant. The relationship between smoking and use of alternative tobacco products is statistically significant. There is a significant relationship between the use of any two alternative tobacco products. Alternative tobacco product use was found to be close to other studies. The reasons for use are the same with other studies. In our study, the propositions about alternative tobacco products were answered more consciously. Conclusion; Alternative tobacco products are an epidemic spreading rapidly among young people. More studies should be conducted to prevent this epidemic.
