Özet (Çeviri)

Due to the shallow tunnelling process, remarkable surface settlements may occur under soft ground conditions (sand and clays), and these settlements can be dangerous to the stability of the superstructure in urban areas. Some tunnel factors have impacts on these surface settlements. In this paper, the assessment of surface settlements that occur due to Shield TBM shallow tunnelling process and effects of the tunnel factors that have impacts on these settlements have been presented. The factors that investigated are face pressure, grout pressure, tunnel depth and tunnel diameter. The study was carried out in the sand, using the numerical analysis. 3-dimensional tunnel model has been used to assess the surface settlements that occur due to tunnelling. Horizontal and vertical surface settlements results have been discussed with figures. Also, to determine the effects of the tunnel factors that have an impact on the surface settlements, different conditions have been considered. Effects of all tunnel factors have been investigated for both vertical and horizontal surface settlements. Results show that the maximum vertical surface settlements occur at the tunnel centre axis. However, maximum horizontal settlements have been observed at specific distances from the tunnel centre axis. Also, it has been noted that an incorrect calculation of the grout and face pressures can cause unexpected surface settlements. According to results, also the accurate determination of tunnel depth and diameter are critically important in protecting surface stability in shallow tunnelling process. Results obtained from study have been compared with previous studies based on empirical approaches. Number of Words in Abstract: 250
