Özet
Bu çalışmada tarih boyunca pek çok kültüre ev sahipliği yapan Niğde'nin, XIX. yüzyıl ortalan ve XX. yüzyıl başı konut mimarisi incelenmiş, Osmanlı konut geleneği içindeki yeri saptanmıştır. Çalışma altı bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde, konunun tanımı, araştırma yöntemi, belge ve kaynaklar tanıtılmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise Niğde'nin tarihsel, fiziksel, sosyal, ekonomik ve konutların mimari özellikleri hakkında genel bilgiler verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde geleneksel yapıların yerleşim düzeni, çevreyle olan ilişkileri, plan, cephe, malzeme ve teknik özellikleri, süsleme ve geçirdiği değişiklikler anlatılmaktadır. Katalog bölümünde ise evler plan tiplerine göre sınıflandırılarak ayrıntılı bir şekilde tasvir edilmiştir. Beşinci bölüm, değerlendirme bölümüdür. Niğde evleri plan tipi, cephe özellikleri, mekan ve cephe elemanları, malzeme ve teknik kullanımı, süsleme açısından, Kapadokya Bölgesi ve diğer Anadolu kentlerindeki evlerle karşılaştırması yapılmıştır. Buna göre Niğde evleri, taş malzemesi, çıkmalı ve çıkmasız cephe tipleri, soralı ve sofasız plan düzenlemesi, vurgulanmış giriş kapısı, çevre binalarla bütünleşen kütlesel gelişimi, bahçe ve avlu duvarlarıyla kendine özgü bir mimari oluşturduğu görülmektedir. Sonuç bölümünde ise konutların korunmasıyla ilgili bir takım bilgi ve önerilere yer verilmiştir.

The house architecture of Niğde (a place where a lot of cultures have passed through in history) has been researched and the position of Niğde within the Ottoman House Convention has been established. This study consists of six parts. The definition of subject, the research method, and the documentation and resources have been introduced in the introduction section. In the second section, general information about the historical, physical and social characteristics of Niğde and the architecture features of the houses therein have been given. In the third section, the settlement arrangement of the conventional constructions, relations with the surroundings, the features of the plan, frontage, material and technical properties and decoration and the amendments underwent through time have been described. And in the catalog section, the houses have been depicted and classified according to the plan types in detail. The fifth section is the section of evaluation. The plan types, frontage features, site and frontage elements, material and technical utilization of the Niğde Houses have been compared with the houses in the Cappadocia Region and other Anatolia Cities with respect to decoration. Niğde Houses appear to have a unique architecture with the stone materials, frontage types with and without projections, plan arrangements with and without halls, emphasized enrty doors, massive development integrating with the neighborhood constructions and with the garden and courtyard walls they have. Some information and recommandations are given concerning protection of the houses in the conclusion section.
