“Bu araştırma, özellikle Modern Hareket'ten bu yana yoğun şehir alanlarında gelenek haline gelmiş yüksek katlı konutları yeniden değerlendirmeyi amaçlar. Araştırma, temelini evin olumlu yaşam modeli ve düşük katlı konut düzeninin oluşturduğu, bu düzenin yakın çevresiyle ve diğer evlerle yakın ilişkisi göz önünde bulundurarak atmıştır. Avlu, cumba, hayat, sofa gibi unsurlarıyla, geleneksel ahşap Türk evinin bir kavram olarak daha büyük ölçekte ve yüksek katlı konutların şehir ölçeğinde bir prototip haline getirilebilme olasılığı düşünülmüştür. Ev, yaşam ile yer arasında yatay bir ilişki yaratma olasılığını başlatır, yapay yerleşim alanları ve topluluk hissi yaratma yoluyla, yüksek katlı konut örneklerinde ya hiç uygulanmamış ya da başarılı olmamıştır. Türk evinin özelliklerinden yola çıkarak geliştirilen yüksek katlı prototiplerin birden fazla kopyasını eklemek tekniği, şehirde yaşam kalitesini artırabilir ve hem kamusal hem de özel alanlara katkı sağlayabilir. “This research, aims far a re-evaluation of the high rise housing, which had been a tradition in the dense urban areas, especially since the Modern Movement. Research takes far its premise, the positive living pattern of the house and the low rise housing scheme, which is in close relation with its immediate surrounding and with the other houses. With its elements of Avlu (courtyard), cumba (bay-windows), hayat (balcony like semiopen main activity space), sofa (focal hall), traditional wooden Turkish House is thought far the possibility of an archetype transformed and expanded to a much larger scale than it is, to the urban scale of the high rise housing. The house initiates the possibility of creating a horizontal relation of the living and the ground, through the artificial ground spaces and creation of a sense of community, which has either not been a practice or, has not been successful in the examples of high rise housings we come across. The prototype developed out of any context, through the cross mapping of the house and the high rise exercised in three different kinds of urban sites, will be tested in one, which is not in the context of its archetype, but in New York -in a challenging urban environment. ”The technique of inserting multiple copies of adaptable high-rise prototypes, developed through the features of the Turkish house will produce a higher quality of life in the city, contributing to both public and private realms.“ Every urban settlement is livable and ecological, if dwelling is a decisive part of its structure (Kollhoff, Lotus lnternational; no94, p.101 ). So, dwelling is made possible on the earth.”
