Özet
Kültür, milletlerin tarihî serüvenlerinde meydana getirdikleri en önemli birikimler arasındadır ve bu birikimin unsurları sözlü kültürde yaşamaya devam etmektedir. Kültürel birikimin gelecek kuşaklara aktarılabilmesi için geçmişten günümüze uzanan süreçte birçok derleme ve arşivleme çalışması yapılmıştır. Bu yolla kayıt altına alınan ürünler arasında efsaneler önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Gizemli ve tılsımlı olayları bünyesinde barındıran genellikle olağandışı unsurlarla bezenmiş, ibret verici yönü olan kısa mensur şekildeki anonim halk anlatıları“efsane”olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Anonim halk edebiyatının bir türü olarak kabul gören efsaneler bu yönleriyle halkın ilgisini çekmiş, halkiyatçıların ise önemli araştırma alanlarından birisi olmuştur. Bu alanda Anadolu sahası ve Türk dünyasında birçok çalışma yapılmış olup efsanelerin farklı yönleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu çalışmada tarih, kültür ve medeniyet birikimi bakımından derinliğe ve zenginliğe sahip olan Karaman yöresinde anlatılan efsaneler ele alınmıştır. Efsanelerin bir kısmı yazılı kaynaklardan taranmış, bir kısmı ise kaynak kişilerden ise görüşme yöntemiyle derlenip kayıt altına alınmış ve incelenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında toplam 305 efsane metni tespit edilmiştir. Bu efsane metinleri; halkbilimi çalışma yöntemlerine göre tür ve muhteva özellikleri, diğer türlerle ilişkisi, motif ve icra yapısı, işlevleri, oluşum aşamaları açısından detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Tezin büyük bir kısmını oluşturan motif incelemesi bölümünde Stith Thompson'un Motif İndex of Folk Literature adlı, altı ciltlik çalışması yol gösterici olmuştur. Çalışmanın sonunda Karaman yöresinde güçlü bir efsane anlatma geleneği olduğu, merkez ve taşrada bu geleneğin yaşatıldığı, tespit edilen efsanelerin motif yönünden zengin bir çeşitliliğe sahip olduğu görülmüştür.

Culture is among the most important accumulations that nations have created in their historical adventures, and the elements of this accumulation continue to live in an oral culture. In order to transfer cultural accumulation to future generations, many compilation and archiving studies have been carried out from the past to the present. Legends have an important place among the products recorded in this way. Anonymous folk narratives in short prose with an exemplary aspect, often adorned with extraordinary elements, containing mysterious and talismanic events, are defined as legends. Legends, which are accepted as a genre of anonymous folk literature, have attracted the attention of the public with these aspects and have been one of the important research areas of folklorists. In this area, many studies have been carried out in the Anatolian field and the Turkish world and different aspects of the legends have been emphasized. In this study, the legends told in the Karaman region, which has depth and richness in terms of history, culture and civilization, are discussed. Some of the legends were scanned from written sources, and some of them were compiled, recorded and examined by the source people by interview method. Within the scope of the study, a total of 305 legend texts were identified. These legend texts; According to folklore study methods, genre and content features, relationship with other genres, motif and performance structure, functions, and formation stages were examined in detail. In the motif analysis part of the thesis, Stith Thompson's six-volume work called“Motif Index of Folk Literature”has been a guide. At the end of the study, it has been seen that there is a strong tradition of telling legends in the Karaman region, this tradition is kept alive in the centre and the provinces, and the identified legends have a rich variety in terms of motifs.
