Özet

Light is a carrier of information, many times portrayer of storytelling. This paper's aim is to understand the relationship between the environment, lighting and their narratives. Although the storytelling feature of light has been widely used since ancient time, this research paper will mainly focus on architectural lighting design of the present day. It aims to understand and classify how the design process with narration occurs, what is inspiring the designers, and how they are using the light to tell stories. The other purpose also can be defined as to investigate the role of lighting in the communication. The structures and environments found in various regions of the world have been examined in terms of historical values, architectural features, connection points to the story, and how they linked between lights and come to realization. The outcome of research from the selected buildings will be presented; in order to understand more clearly how light engages with the environment.
