Özet
Molds, which play an important role in mass production, are scrapped before reaching the production amount targeted by the manufacturers due to wrong material selection and incorrect surface treatment. During this process, the need for maintenance in molds increases due to problems such as corrosion and wear. Production costs increase due to production stoppages, mold maintenance and inability to reach targeted production quantities. When choosing a material, the effects and problems that both the plastic raw material and the mold steel will be exposed to should be taken into consideration. Research and studies aim to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance and strength with appropriate surface treatments, as well as correct material selection. In this way, it is possible to ensure that the molds have a longer life and do not require maintenance in longer periods. In this study, a literature study was conducted on plastics and plastic mold steels that are frequently used in the molding industry. In addition, the selection of appropriate plastic mold steels and the surface treatments applied on them were examined according to the types of plastic used. In addition, experiments were carried out on the selection of appropriate mold steel by comparing the corrosion resistance of plastic injection mold steels with material numbers 1.2311 and 1.2316, surface treatments, wear tests.
