This study examined the volumes of the substantia grisea, substantia alba, hippocampus, corpus amygdaloideum, right and left limbic lobes, and nucleus accumbens in patients with MS. Our study was planned retrospectively. The records of a total of 108 individuals between the ages of 18-70 were examined. Volume analyzes were performed on t1 sequence cranial radiological images of 54 patients diagnosed with MS and 54 healthy control groups. It was performed using the“volBrain Volumetry Report, version 1.0”program, which is a web-based volume calculation system, without human interaction. Statistical analyzes were performed in R 4.3.1 (www.r-project.org). In the MS group of our study, the substantia grisea volume was observed to decrease statistically significantly compared to the control group (p = 0.047). When the MS and control groups were compared, it was observed that the volumes of the right hippocampus (p˂0.001) and left nucleus accumbens (p=0.004) decreased in the MS group. It was determined that the volume of limbic lobe and corpus amygdaloideum in the MS group decreased in both the right and left hemispheres compared to the control group (p˂0.001). However, no statistically significant relationship was detected when the MS and control groups were compared in the volume of the right nucleus accumbens (p = 0.059), left hippocampus (p = 0.095) and substantia alba (p = 0.877). The data of our study will be guiding for future studies. In addition, we think that knowing the size of the limbic lobe, hippocampus, corpus amygdaloideum and nucleus accumbens volumes of MS patients will contribute to the clinical stages of the disease and the treatment process.
