Özet
Satranç, tarih öncesinden günümüze uzanan bir yolculukta, birçok farklı uygarlığın kültürel ve düşünsel belleğinde önemli bir konuma sahip olmuştur. Bu uygarlıkların her birinin düşünce sistemlerinin inşası aşamasında satranç da eş zamanlı bir gelişim göstermiş, bulunduğu kültürden etkilendiği kadar, o kültürü de etkilemiştir. Doğası gereği soyut ve stratejik özellikler taşıyan satrancın, bu özelliklerin yanı sıra farklı perspektiflerin önemi, şüphecilik, nesnellik, tutarlılık, analiz, soyutlama, öngörü, karar verme, analitik düşünme gibi özellikleri de felsefi düşüncenin niteliklerini yansıtmaktadır. Çalışmada, antik çağlardan günümüze düşünce sistemlerini açıklarken oyun ve özellikle satranç kavramını kullanan filozoflar, bu kavramın felsefi zenginlik sağlamadaki rolü ile birlikte, satrancın kökenleri, gelişimi ve hakim olduğu kültürel ve felsefi geleneklerin nitelikleri arasındaki ilişkiler incelenecek; ayrıca satrancın etik, dil felsefesi, bilim felsefesi, pragmatizm ve yapay zekâ gibi çeşitli felsefi alanlardaki konum ve etkileri tartışılacaktır.

Chess has held a significant position in the cultural and intellectual memory of various civilizations throughout a journey that spans from prehistoric times to the present day. During the construction of each civilization's thought systems, chess exhibited concurrent development, being influenced by the culture in which it was embedded, and in turn influencing that culture. Inherently abstract and strategic, chess not only embodies these characteristics but also reflects philosophical qualities such as the importance of diverse perspectives, skepticism, objectivity, consistency, analysis, abstraction, foresight, decision-making, and analytical thinking. This study will explore the role of philosophers who have used the game, particularly chess, to elucidate thought systems from ancient times to the present, focusing on how the concept contributes to philosophical richness. It will examine the origins, development, and the characteristics of the dominant cultural and philosophical traditions associated with chess. Additionally, the position and impacts of chess in various philosophical domains such as ethics, philosophy of language, philosophy of science, pragmatism, and artificial intelligence will be discussed.
