Özet
Tuvalet eğitimi; uyuma ve uyanık haldeyken çocuğun idrar ve dışkı kontrolünü kazanması, destekleme ve herhangi bir hatırlatma olmadan tuvaletinin geldiğini fark ederek, bu ihtiyacını bağımsız bir şekilde giderebilmeyi öğrenmesidir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, annelerin tuvalet eğitimine karşı bilgi ve tutumlarının belirlenmesidir. Bu araştırma nicel araştırma yaklaşımlarından betimsel tarama modeliyle yapılmıştır. Ankara Bilkent Şehir Hastanesi Sağlam Çocuk Polikliniklerine başvuran 2-5 yaş arası çocuğu olan 189 anneyle çalışma yürütülmüştür ve annelerin seçiminde kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmacının hazırladığı“Kişisel Bilgi Formu'' ve ”Ebeveyn Bilgi ve Tutum Formu'' formlarıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırmada, ailenin gelir düzeyi ve tuvalet eğitimi bitiş süresi karşılaştırıldığında gelir düzeyinin düşmesiyle sürecin uzaması arasında anlamlı bir sonuç çıkmıştır. Annenin eğitim düzeyi ve tuvalet eğitimi bitiş süresi arasında anlamlı bir sonuç çıkmamıştır. 25-31 yaş aralığındaki annelerin tuvalet eğitimini ilk haftalarda tamamladığı görülmektedir. Yapılan araştırma ve literatür karşılaştırıldığında tuvalet eğitimi çocuğun hayatında çok önemli bir yere sahiptir. Annenin bilgi ve tutumu bu süreci etkilemektedir. Tuvalet eğitimi öncesinde ve sırasında annenin doğru bilgi kaynaklarından beslenmesi ve çocuk gelişimcilerin anneye destek vermesinin önemli olduğu bulunmuştur.

Toilet training; It is the child's gaining urine and stool control while sleeping and awake, and at the same time learning to meet this need independently by realizing that the toilet is coming without any support and reminder. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of mothers' knowledge and attitude towards toilet training on toilet training of children. The study was conducted using a quantitative research approach with a descriptive survey design. The investigation involved 189 mothers with children aged between 2 and 5 years, who were attending the Sağlam Pediatric Clinics at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. The selection of mothers was accomplished through the utilization of a convenient sampling technique. Data were collected with the“Personal Information Form”and“Parent Information and Attitude Form”prepared by the researcher. In the study, when the income level of the family and the duration of toilet training were compared, a significant result was found between the decrease in the income level and the prolongation of the process. However, no statistically significant relationship emerged between the mother's educational level and the duration of toilet training completion. It was noted that mothers within the age range of 25 to 31 tended to complete toilet training within the initial weeks. When comparing the conducted research with the literature, it becomes evident that toilet training holds a significant place in a child's life. The knowledge and attitude of the mother influence this process. It has been identified that obtaining accurate information from reliable sources and receiving support from child development professionals are crucial for mothers before and during the toilet training period.
