Anatolia has played a significant intersectional role throughout the paleogeographic history of the faunas in Eurasia and Africa. The Late Miocene Equidae collections studied within the scope of this thesis were mainly obtained from the Mugla-Yatagan-Serefkoy (MYSe-MN12) locality in western Anatolia and the Ankara-Sinap (AS-MN9) locality in central Anatolia. Moreover, samples obtained from the Usak-Eşme-Kemiklitepe and Kütahya-Bayat regions were also included in the study and utilized as comparison materials. This comprehensive systematic study on the Late Miocene Anatolian Equidae species, based on biometric and morphological character states, has been conducted for the first time, incorporating novel findings. Hippotherium giganteum and Hippotherium cf. primigenium have recently been identified from the Ankara-Sinap locality in this study, which is highly notable for its preservation of the Astrasian-Vallesian boundary. At another important locality, the MYSe locality, the presence of at least five species has been determined. Due to the paleoenvironmental equivalence of this locality with the Samos fauna (MN12; Greece), the specimens have mostly been correlated with Greek examples. In this light, the study of these faunas is noteworthy for the systematic paleontology studies of Equidae, as it contributes to the understanding of Old World Hipparion evolution. This study will clarify the evolutionary history of the Anatolian Hipparion species and the Miocene-period Anatolian fauna. This thesis study has been supported as part of the“Systematic Determination of Late Miocene Equidae Collections from Ankara and Mugla Regions”Master's Thesis Project, funded by the Ege University BAP Unit, with Project Number: 26312 and TUBITAK BIDEB 2210-Domestic Graduate Scholarship program. I would like to express my gratitude to the relevant units for their support.
