Özet
Serbest zaman, bireylerin iş, okul ve diğer sorumluluklarından arta kalan zaman dilimini ifade ederken, bu zaman diliminde yapılan etkinlikler bireylerin kişisel gelişimlerine, sosyal bağlarına ve genel yaşam kalitelerine katkı sağlamaktadır. Müzik, bu etkinlikler arasında önemli bir yer tutmakta ve ergenlerin duygusal, sosyal ve kültürel gelişimlerine büyük katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu araştırma, ergenlerin serbest zaman etkinliklerinde müziğe yer verme durumları ile Seçmeli Müzik dersini seçme durumları üzerine bir incelemedir. Araştırma, Denizli ili Acıpayam ilçesindeki ortaöğretim düzeyinde öğrenim gören 9., 10., 11. ve 12. sınıf öğrencileriyle sınırlıdır. Araştırmanın amacı, ergenlerin serbest zamanlarında müziğe ne ölçüde yer verdiklerini ve bu durumun Seçmeli Müzik dersi tercihlerine nasıl yansıdığını belirlemektir. Ayrıca, ergenlerin demografik özelliklerinin serbest zaman etkinliklerine ve Seçmeli Müzik dersi tercihine etkisi de incelenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında veri toplama aracı olarak anket kullanılmış ve elde edilen veriler SPSS 22.0 programı kullanılarak tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve Ki-Kare testi ile alt problem bazında analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular, ergenlerin büyük bir kısmının serbest zamanlarında müziğe önemli ölçüde yer verdiğini ve müziğin onların duygusal ve sosyal yaşamlarında önemli bir rol oynadığını göstermektedir. Ayrıca, serbest zamanlarında müzikle aktif olarak ilgilenen ergenlerin, okullarında sunulan Seçmeli Müzik derslerini seçme eğilimlerinin daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları incelendiğinde, Seçmeli Müzik dersini en çok kız öğrencilerin tercih ettiği, Seçmeli Müzik dersinin çoğu okulda olmasına ve öğrencilerin serbest zaman etkinliği olarak müziğe fazlaca yer vermelerine rağmen öğrencilerin Seçmeli Müzik dersini az oranda tercih ettiği görülmüştür. Sınıf düzeyinin artmasıyla Seçmeli Müzik dersi tercihlerinin azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Seçmeli Müzik dersi tercihlerinde öğrencilerin ilgilerinin ve derse bakış açılarının etkili olduğu ve okul türünün de bu tercihte önemli bir değişken olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar bağlamında, seçmeli müzik dersine öğrencilerin önem verdiği fakat çoğu okulda imkanlar ve yönlendirmeler doğrultusunda seçme durumlarında azalış görüldüğünden müzik dersinin temel kültürel eğitim değerleri içerisinde seçmeli olmaktan ziyade zorunlu ders olması gerektiği ve buna yönelik düzenlemelerin yapılmasının yararlı olacağı söylenebilir. Buna ek olarak, Seçmeli Müzik dersinin tercih edilebilirliğinin artmasına yönelik çalışmalar yapılabilir. Okullarda müfredatla ilgili güncellemeler yapılırken öğrenci görüşlerini içeren çalışma ve bulguların göz önüne alınması ve ders içeriklerinin öğrencilerin tutumlarına göre şekillendirilmesi ya da buna yer verilmesi önemli bir etki sağlayabilir.

While leisure time refers to the period of time left over from work, school and other responsibilities of individuals, the activities carried out in this time period contribute to the personal development, social ties and general quality of life of individuals. Music has an important place among these activities and contributes greatly to the emotional, social and cultural development of adolescents. This research is an investigation on adolescents' inclusion of music in their leisure time activities and their choice of elective music course. The research is limited to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students studying at the secondary education level in Acıpayam district of Denizli province. The aim of the study is to determine the extent to which adolescents include music in their free time and how this situation is reflected in their preferences for Elective Music course. In addition, the effect of demographic characteristics of adolescents on leisure time activities and elective music course preferences was also analysed. Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire was used as a data collection tool and the data obtained were analysed on the basis of sub-problems with descriptive statistics and Chi-Square test using SPSS 22.0 software. The findings show that most of the adolescents include music in their free time and that music plays an important role in their emotional and social lives. In addition, it was found that adolescents who were actively interested in music in their free time were more likely to choose elective music courses offered at their schools. When the results of the research were analysed, it was seen that female students preferred the Elective Music course the most, and that students preferred the Elective Music course the least, although the Elective Music course was offered in most schools and students included music as a leisure time activity. It was determined that the preferences for Elective Music course decreased with the increase in grade level. It was concluded that students' interests and perspectives on the course were effective in their preferences for the elective music course and the type of school was an important variable in this preference. In the context of the results obtained, it can be said that the music course should be a compulsory course rather than an elective course within the basic cultural education values and that it would be useful to make arrangements for this. In addition, studies can be carried out to increase the preferability of the elective music course. Considering the studies and findings including students' opinions and shaping the course contents according to the attitudes of the students or including them in the curriculum while making updates related to the curriculum in schools can provide an important effect.
