Özet

Günümüzde, bilgi ve teknolojinin hızla gelişmesiyle nitelikli bireylere duyulan ihtiyaç giderek artmaktadır. Eğitim kurumlarının ve yükseköğretim sisteminin amacı çağın gereksinimlerine uygun, istihdam edilebilir bireyler kazandırmaktır. Bu durum, hizmet öncesi öğretmen eğitimi sağlamakla yükümlü olan eğitim fakülteleri için de geçerlidir. Türkiye'de genç işsizliğinin önemli bir boyutunu oluşturan öğretmen işsizliğinin azaltılmasında öğretmenlerin hizmet öncesi eğitimleri ve mesleki yeterliliklerinin değerlendirilmesi ve istihdam sağlayıcıların beklentileri incelenerek öğretmen yetiştirme programlarının yeniden yapılandırılması önem arz etmektedir. Öğretmen istihdamında önemli bir paya sahip özel okullar bünyelerinde çalışacak öğretmenleri devlet okullarından farklı özel şartlara tabi tutarak belirlemektedirler. Çalışmanın amacı fen bilimleri öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarının özel okullarda istihdam edilebilirlik durumlarını incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, karma araştırma yöntemi ile yürütülen çalışmada, öncelikle özel okul yöneticilerinin beklentileri belirlenmiştir. Bu beklentiler dikkate alınarak özel okullarda fen bilimleri öğretmen istihdam ölçeği geliştirilmiş, ölçek fen bilimleri öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarına uygulanmıştır. Çalışma ile özel okullarda fen bilimleri öğretmen istihdam ölçeği sonuçları, akademisyen görüşleri ve lisans program ders içerikleri; özel okul beklentileri bağlamında değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda özel okulların istihdam edecekleri öğretmenlerden öğretmenlik mesleği genel yeterlikleri kapsamında yer alan birçok yeterliğe sahip olmalarını bekledikleri görülmüştür. İstihdam ölçeği sonuçlarına göre fen bilimleri öğretmen ve öğretmen adayları bu yeterliklere yüksek düzeyde sahiptirler. Fakat akademisyenler fen bilimleri öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarının bu yeterliklere istenilen düzeyde sahip olmadıkları düşüncesindedirler. Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği Lisans Ders Programı ise fen bilimleri öğretmen adaylarını, özel okulların beklediği yeterlikler açısından, farklı düzeylerde desteklemektedir. Çalışma ile ulaşılan sonuçlar ışığında bazı öneriler sunulmuştur

In the present day, there is an increasing need for qualified individuals with the rapid development of knowledge and technology. The aim of educational institutions and the higher education system is to equip individuals who meet the requirements of the age and are employable. This situation also applies to faculties of education, which are responsible for providing pre-service teacher training. In Turkey, reducing the significant scale of teacher unemployment, which constitutes a crucial aspect of youth unemployment, is of great importance. Evaluating the pre-service training and professional competencies of teachers and examining the expectations of employment providers to restructure teacher training programs is crucial. Private schools, which hold a significant share in teacher employment, determine the teachers to be employed within their institutions under special conditions different from public schools. This study aims to examine the employability conditions of science teachers and pre-service science teachers in private schools. For this purpose, the expectations of private school administrators were identified first in this mixed- method research study. Taking these expectations into consideration, a science teacher employment scale was developed for private schools, and this scale was administered to science teachers and teacher candidates. With this study; the results of the science teacher employment scale in private schools, academician opinions, and undergraduate program course contents have been evaluated in the context of private school expectations. As a result of the study, the author has observed that private schools expect the teachers they will employ to possess many competencies included in the general competencies of the teaching profession. According to the employment scale results, science teachers and pre-service science teachers have these competencies at a high level. However, academicians believe that science teachers and teacher candidates do not possess these competencies at the desired level. The Science Teacher Undergraduate Program supports science teacher candidates at different levels in terms of the competencies expected by private schools. In light of the findings, some recommendations have been presented.
