Özet
Küreselleşen dünya ile birlikte teknolojinin yaygınlaşması ve teknolojiye olan bağımlılık gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bu durum, bireylerin çevreleriyle olan etkileşimini de bir hayli azaltmıştır. Bireylerin sadece teknolojik araçlar vasıtasıyla iletişime geçmesi neticesinde kültürel miraslarımızdan birisi olan mektup, tarihin tozlu raflarına kaldırılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu araştırmada, bir taraftan mektup arkadaşlığı stratejisinin eleştirel düşünme becerisi üzerine etkisinin olup olmadığını tespit etmek diğer taraftan da kültürel mirasın devamlılığını sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırma, karma yöntem desenlerinden açıklayıcı ardışık desen ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Erzurum ilinde bulunan iki devlet okulunda 6. sınıfta öğrenim gören toplam 20 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada nicel veriler, Yıldırım Döner ve Demir (2022) tarafından geliştirilen“Ortaokul Öğrencileri İçin Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği”ile nitel veriler ise öğrencilerin süreç boyunca yazdığı mektuplar ve araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış açık uçlu görüşme formu aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler bağımlı örneklem t testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Mektuplar Maxqda2024® programında alt kodların istatistiği modeliyle, öğrenci görüşleri ise Maxqda2024® programında Tek Vaka Modeliyle kod ve kategori oluşturularak yorumlanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma neticesinde, Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği ön test ve son test puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmiştir. Uygulama sonunda öğrencilerle yapılan yarı yapılandırılmış açık uçlu görüş formundan yararlanılarak alınan görüşler neticesinde öğrencilerin bu uygulama neticesinde eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin geliştiği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, mektup arkadaşlığı stratejisinin ortaokul öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme becerilerine olumlu yönde etkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen mektupların incelemesi neticesinde öğrencilerin neredeyse tamamı eleştirel düşünme bileşenlerinin gerekliliklerine uygun olacak şekilde davranış sergiledikleri tespit edilmiştir. Alınan öğrenci görüşlerinde öğrencilerin bu uygulamayı öğrenmeyi kolaylaştırdığı, eğlenceli olduğu ve kalıcı öğrenmeyi sağladığı diğer derslerde de kullanılmasını istediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğu mektup arkadaşlığı stratejisinin eleştirel düşünme becerilerine katkıda bulunduğunu belirtmişlerdir.

With the globalizing world, the spread of technology and the relationships with technology are increasing day by day. In this case, the interaction with their environment has also decreased considerably. In return for the continuation of these technological tools, one of our cultural heritages, the letter, has begun to be put on the dusty shelves of history. In this research, to determine whether a comprehensive pen-pal strategy has an effect on the failure of critical thinking and to ensure the continuity of cultural heritage in another area. This research was conducted with an explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed method designs. The study group consisted of a total of 20 students studying in the 6th grade in two public schools in Erzurum. In this study, quantitative data were collected using the“Critical Thinking Disposition Scale for Middle School Students”developed by Yıldırım Döner and Demir (2022), and qualitative data were collected through the letters written by the students throughout the process and the semi-structured open-ended interview form developed by the researcher. Quantitative data were analyzed using the dependent sample t-test. The letters were interpreted using the statistical model of subcodes in the Maxqda2024® program, and student opinions were interpreted using the Single Case Model in the Maxqda2024® program to create codes and categories. The obtained data were analyzed using the content analysis method. As a result of the research, a significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test score averages of the Critical Thinking Disposition Scale. At the end of the application, the semi-structured open-ended opinion form was used with the students and as a result of the opinions received, it was found that the students' critical thinking skills improved as a result of this application. As a result of the research, it was determined that the pen-pal strategy had a positive effect on the critical thinking skills of middle school students. As a result of the examination of the letters obtained, it was determined that almost all of the students exhibited behaviors that were in line with the requirements of the critical thinking components. In the student opinions received, it was stated that the students wanted this application to be used in other courses as it made learning easier, was fun and provided permanent learning. The majority of the students stated that the pen-pal strategy contributed to their critical thinking skills.
