Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı günlük hayatla ilişkilendirilmiş matematik öğrenme etkinliklerinin özel yetenekli 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin sayı hissi performanslarına etkisinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında İzmir ili Bergama ilçesinde bulunan bazı resmi ilkokullardaki öğrencilerden ve Bergama Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi öğrencilerinden toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu ilk olarak Bergama ilçesindeki özel yetenekli tanısı almış 14 gönüllü 4. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Bu öğrencilere Can'ın (2017) geliştirdiği Bağlam İçeren Problemlerden Oluşan Sayı Duyusu Ölçeği uygulandıktan sonra test sonuçları öğrencilerin sayı hissi bileşenlerinden yararlanma durumları ve kullanma performansları açısından analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucu orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenen 6 öğrenci ile sayı hissi performansları hakkında daha detaylı bilgi edinebilmek için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yapılmış ardından da gerçek yaşamla ilişkilendirilmiş matematik öğrenme etkinlikleri uygulanmıştır. Etkinlik uygulama süreci sona erdiğinde öğrencilerin sayı hissi performanslarının yeniden belirlenmesi amacıyla Bağlam İçeren Problemlerden Oluşan Sayı Duyusu Ölçeği uygulanmış ve öğrencilerle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara dayalı olarak bu tez çalışmasında gerçek yaşamla ilişkilendirilmiş matematik öğrenme etkinlikleri uygulamanın özel yetenekli öğrencilerin sayı hissi performanslarına olumlu etkisinin olduğu söylenebilir. Araştırma sonunda elde edilen verilerle gerçek yaşam etkinliklerinin etkisi ile özel yetenekli 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin sayı hissi gelişimleri konusunda alanyazına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

The aim of this research is to examine the effects of mathematics learning activities associated with daily life on the number sense performances of gifted 4th grade students. A case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Data were collected in the research from students in some official primary schools in Bergama district of Izmir province and from students of Bergama Science and Art Center in the 2023-2024 academic year. The sample group of the research first consisted of 14 volunteer 4th grade students diagnosed with special talent in Bergama district. After the Number Sense Scale Consisting of Contextual Problems developed by Can (2017) was applied to these students, the test results were analyzed in terms of the students' use of number sense components and their performance in using them. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 6 students who were determined to be at an intermediate level as a result of the analysis in order to obtain more detailed information about their number sense performances, and then mathematics learning activities associated with real life were applied. When the activity application process was completed, the Number Sense Scale Consisting of Problems Containing Context was applied in order to re-determine the number sense performances of the students and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the students. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. Based on the results obtained from the research, it can be said that the application of mathematics learning activities associated with real life in this thesis study has a positive effect on the number sense performances of gifted students. It is thought that the data obtained at the end of the research will contribute to the literature on the number sense development of gifted 4th grade students with the effect of real life activities.
