Özet

Bu çalışma, özel eğitime ihtiyaç duyan öğrencilerin okul yapılarının üzerlerindeki etkisini araştırmak amacıyla bir örnek okul yapısı ve çeşitli okul yapılarını inceleme üzerinden gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örnek yapı olarak Türkiye Spastik Çocuklar Vakfı bünyesindeki Metin Sabancı Okulu seçilmiştir. Örnek yapı incelenmesi ve mekânsal dizim yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, okul yapılarının fiziksel ve bilişsel ihtiyaçlara göre olumlu ve olumsuz özelliklerini ortaya koymayı hedeflemiştir. Türkiye'den ve yurt dışından çeşitli devlet okulları, özel okullar ve özel eğitim okulları incelenmiş, tasarımın öğrencilere etkisi ve okul yapılarının tasarım olgusu üzerine yapılan araştırmalar özetlenmiştir. Çalışma, okul yapılarının fiziksel ihtiyaçlara uygunluğunu vurgulamış ve fiziksel yetersizliği olan öğrencilerin erişimine uygun sınıflar ve tuvaletler gibi düzenlemelere odaklanmıştır. Bu düzenlemelerin özel eğitim öğrencilerinin fiziksel ihtiyaçlarını etkin bir şekilde karşıladığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, örnek okul yapısının bazı fiziksel ve bilişsel ihtiyaçlarla uyumsuz olduğu, ortak alanlarda sosyalleşmeye neden olabilecek düzenlemelere sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Mekânsal dizim analizi, örnek okul yapısının sosyal entegrasyon ve duyarlılık çabalarını destekleyen özelliklere sahip olup olmadığını değerlendirmiştir. Elde edilen veriler ve bulgular, okul yapılarının öğrenciler üzerindeki etkilerine yönelik tasarım olgusuna referanslar sunmuştur.

This study was conducted to investigate the impact of school constructions on students requiring special education, through the examination of a sample school construction and various other school constructions. The Metin Sabancı School, under the Turkish Spastic Children's Foundation, was selected as the sample construction. The study utilized spatial syntax methods alongside the examination of the sample construction. The aim was to identify the positive and negative features of school constructions based on physical and cognitive needs. Various state schools, private schools, and special education schools from Turkey and abroad were analyzed, summarizing research findings on the impact of design on students and the concept of school construction design. The study emphasized the suitability of school constructions for physical needs, focusing on arrangements such as classrooms and restrooms accessible to students with physical disabilities. These arrangements were found to effectively meet the physical needs of special education students. Additionally, it was determined that the sample school construction had some features that were incompatible with certain physical and cognitive needs, and arrangements that could lead to socialization in common areas. The space syntax analysis evaluated whether the sample school construction possessed features that supported social integration and sensitivity efforts. The data and findings obtained provided references for the design concept regarding the impact of school constructions on students.
