The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the dichotomy thinking scale and eating attitudes in preobese and obese adults and to evaluate its effect on overweight phobia. The average age of the 350 participants in the study was 36.40±12.01 years, and the average BMI was 30.22±4.19 kg/m². The total score mean of the Fat Phobia Scale (FPS) was 3.52±0.81, indicating a high level of weight phobia. The mean total score of the Dichotomous Thinking in Eating Disorders Scale (DTEDS) was 2.27±0.68, indicating low dichotomous thinking in eating disorders. The mean total score of the Eating Attitude Test-26 (EAT-26) was 13.10±7.91, suggesting low eating attitudes. It was found that as the DTEDS ''Food'' subscale scores increased, there was a 25.3% increase in the ''Diet'' subscale scores of EAT-26, a 10.7% increase in the ''Oral Control'' subscale scores, and a 23.4% increase in the ''Total'' EAT-26 scores (p<0.05). As the DTEDS ''General'' subscale scores increased, there was a 12.6% increase in the total FPS scores, an 18.8% increase in the ''Bulimia and Food Anxiety'' subscale scores of EAT-26, a 13.1% increase in the ''Oral Control'' subscale scores, and a 17% increase in the ''Total'' EAT-26 scores (p<0.05). As the DTEDS ''Total'' scores increased, there was a 21.1% increase in the ''Diet'' subscale scores, a 16.4% increase in the ''Bulimia and Food Anxiety'' subscale scores, a 13.3% increase in the ''Oral Control'' subscale scores, and a 24.1% increase in the ''Total'' EAT-26 scores (p<0.05). No effect of the DTEDS and EAT-26 total scores on the total FPS scores was found (p>0.05). Dichotomous thinking increases eating attitude scores but has no effect on the total scores of dichotomous thinking, EAT-26, and FPS.
