Özet
Thomas Aquinas'ın Varlık ve Bilgi Anlayışı Üzerine Analitik Bir Yaklaşım başlıklı çalışmamız felsefe tarihinin uzun bir dönemini oluşturan Orta Çağ döneminde gerçekleştirilmiş olan felsefe birikimini, dönemin seçkin temsilcilerinden biri olan Thomas Aquinas'ın eserleri bağlamında analiz etmeyi ve değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bilindiği üzere Orta Çağ dönemi tarihsel perspektifte ve farklı şekillerde değerlendirmelere konu edinilmiş, ancak entelektüel tarihin gelişim çizgisindeki yeri hakkında üzerinde hemfikir olunamamış bir zaman dilimidir. Bununla birlikte, bilinen ve katı şekilde yerleşmiş olan ve çok fazla şüpheye yer verilmeyecek niteliklerinin başında Tanrı merkezli olması ve Kilise'nin kuşatıcı mahiyeti gelmektedir. Bunların dışında atfedilen niteliklerin ise büyük ölçüde değerlendirmeyi yapan bilim veya düşün insanının imgelem gücünün bir ifadesi olmaktan öte bir anlam taşımadığını söylememek yerinde olacaktır. Thomas Aquinas'ın Varlık ve Bilgi Anlayışı Üzerine Analitik Bir Yaklaşım başlıklı araştırmamızı tasarlarken, yaptığımız ilk okumalar ışığında öncelikle bu çağın ruhunu belirleyen temel motiflerin neler olduğunu sınıflandırmayı ve sıralamayı esas aldık. Ardından çağın ruhunu derinden kavramış ve felsefe tarihi araştırmacılarınca sürekli gündemde tutulmuş bir filozof olan Aziz Thomas Aquinas'ın nezdinde bir değerlendirmeye gitmenin yerinde olacağına karar verdik. Bu hedefimizi gerçekleştirmek için de Aquinas'ın hayatını, eserlerini ve felsefesini (Ontoloji ve Epistemoloji) olabildiğince detaylı şekilde ele almayı ve bu bağlamda özellikle onun Varlık ve Bilgi anlayışını irdelemeyi uygun gördük. Ontoloji alanında özellikle Tanrı anlayışı başta olmak üzere, Tanrı Kanıtlamaları, Madde Anlayışı ve Varlık Hiyerarşisi hakkındaki görüşlerine, epistemoloji konusunda ise temelde Akıl ve İman tartışmasına değinildikten sonra Orta Çağ'ın ve Aquinas'ın Bilgi Anlayışı analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Her insanın düşünce içeriğinin belirli ölçüde çağının eseri olduğu yaygın kabulünden hareketle sözü geçen konular irdelenirken yalnızca Aquinas'ın felsefesi değil dönemin siyasi ve sosyal durumlarının da göz önünde bulundurulmasına dikkat edilmiş ve özen gösterilmiştir. Aquinas'ın felsefi argümanlarının incelenmesinin ardından, hem kendisinin Katolik inancına mensup Hristiyan bir din bilgini hem de epistemolojik düşünceleriyle bağlantılı olması sebebiyle, Teslis Anlayışı, Sakramentler, İnkarnasyon ve Eskatoloji gibi Hristiyanlık dininin inanç unsurlarını oluşturan konuların tartışıldığı“Hristiyanlık üzerine”başlıklı bir bölüme yer verilmiştir. Böylece, Aquinas'ın felsefi düşüncelerine, mensup olduğu dinin nasıl etki ettiği aynı zamanda döneminin egemen inanç ve dini dogmalar etrafında nasıl şekillendiği hususlarının açıklık kazanması hedeflenmiştir.

Our study titled An Analytical Approach to Thomas Aquinas' Understanding of Being and Knowledge aims to analyze the accumulation of philosophy that was realized during the Middle Ages period, which constitutes a long period of the history of philosophy, in the context of the works of Thomas Aquinas, one of the outstanding representatives of the period, and to go for an evaluation. As it is known, the characterization of the Middle Ages is a period that has been the subject of different evaluations in historical perspective, but it has not been agreed on the place of intellectual history in the line of development. However, at the beginning of his known and firmly established qualities, which there can be little doubt, are his God-centered nature and the all-encompassing nature of the Church. Apart from these, it would be appropriate not to say that the attributes attributed have no meaning other than being an expression of the power of imagination of the scientist or thinker who makes the evaluation to a large extent. When designing our research titled An Analytical Approach to Thomas Aquinas' Understanding of Being and Knowledge, we based our first reading on classifying and sorting out what are the basic motives that determine the spirit of this era. Then we decided that it would be appropriate to go for an evaluation in front of Saint Thomas Aquinas, a philosopher who deeply understood the spirit of the era and was constantly kept on the agenda by researchers of the history of philosophy. In order to achieve this goal, we considered it appropriate to consider Aquinas' life, works and philosophy (Ontology and Epistemology) in as much detail as possible and to examine his understanding of Existence and Knowledge in this context in particular. In the field of ontology, especially the understanding of God, the Proofs of God, the Understanding of Matter and the thoughts about the Hierarchy of Being, and in the field of epistemology, basically the discussion of Reason and Faith, after touching on the Middle Ages and Aquinas' assessments of the Understanding of Knowledge, it was tried to analyze. Based on the widespread acceptance that the content of every person's thought is to a certain extent the work of his era, attention and care have been paid to taking into account not only the philosophy of Aquinas, but also the political and social situations of the period when examining the issues mentioned. After examining the philosophical arguments of Aquinas, both because he is a Christian religious scholar belonging to the Catholic faith and because he is connected with his epistemological thoughts, a section entitled“On Christianity”has been included in which the topics that make up the elements of belief of the Christian religion, such as the Understanding of the Trinity, the Sacraments, Denial and Eschatology, are discussed. Thus, it was aimed to clarify the philosophical thoughts of Aquinas, how the religion he belonged to influenced him, as well as how his era was shaped around the dominant beliefs and religious dogmas.
