Özet
Rüya, İslam kültürünün temel bir bileşeni olarak uzun süredir var olmuş ve geçmişten günümüze edipler tarafından büyük ilgi görmüştür. Rüyalar, işlevselliği bakımından gerçekliğe alternatif bir âlem sunmuş; edebi açıdan hem şiir ve hem de nesir ile güçlü bir bağ kurmuştur. Birçok yazar rüyaların sunduğu anlatı imkânlarını fark ederek onları eserlerine dâhil etmişlerdir. Bu çalışmada da Nobel Ödüllü yazar Necîb Mahfûz'un öykü eserlerinde rüya ile anlatı ilişkisi, rüyaların mana ufukları ve metin yapısındaki etkileri genel çerçevede ele alınmıştır. Tezimiz giriş ve sonuç dışında dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, rüyalar ve anlatı yapısındaki dönüşümler ile rüyaların tür ve anlatı perspektifi üzerindeki etkisi incelenmektedir. İkinci bölümde, Necîb Mahfûz'un rüyalarında temel figürler, sembolik kişilikler, fantastik ve nesnel karakterler ve rüya görenin kendisi gibi çeşitli karakter türleri bakımından zengin olduğu ortaya konmuş ve tüm bu karakterler, rüyaların etkisi altında şekillenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Mahfûz'un anlatılarında rüyalar ve mekânsal dönüşümleri ele alınmıştır. Mahfûz'un rüyalarının kronolojik düzeni hem geri dönüş ve hem de ileriye dönük tekniklerle nasıl meydana geldiği incelenmiştir. Bazen bu teknikler ayrı ayrı, bazen de tek bir rüya içinde iç içe geçmiş olarak yer alır. Rüyalar ayrıca yerlerin şiirsel bir dille, neredeyse şiire dokunur bir dille betimlenmesinden kaynaklanan bir şiirsellik kazandırır, mekânları çeşitlendirir ve iç içe geçirir; anlatıcı karakterler ve olaylar mekânlar arasında özgürce ve kısıtlama olmaksızın ele alınır. Dördüncü bölüm de ise Mahfûz'un rüyalarının anlamsal ufukları altında, rüyaların Mahfûz'un düşünceleri, görüşlerini ve arzularını sembolizm aracılığıyla açığa çıkardığı gösterilmektedir. Bu konu,“Rüyada Görülenler”hikâyesinde olduğu gibi bilgi arayışı ve hayat yolculuğunun genel sembolizmine değinmekte ve“Nekahet Dönemi Rüyaları ve Son Rüyalar”eserindeki gibi kısmi semboller ile ele alınmıştır. Bu eserlerde insanın düşüncesini çağlar boyunca meşgul eden hayat ve ölüm ikilemi gibi metafizik alanlara işaret eden temalar da sembollerle ifade edilmiştir. Bu semboller, sevgi ve nefret, bilinç ve bilinçdışılık, gerçeklik ve ötesi, başlangıç ve son, ışık ve karanlık gibi diğer ikilemleri de içermekte olup Mahfûz'un zihninde hayat ve ölüm ekseninde şekillenmiştir.

This thesis consists of an introduction, a preface, four chapters, a conclusion and finally sources and references. In the preface, the dream is shown as an essential component of Islamic culture and can be a substitute for reality. The relationship between dreams and literature, both poetry and prose, is a strong and old relationship. Contemporary story tellers discovered that the dream possess narrative potential, and can be relied on and employed in narrative texts. Naguib Mahfouz -the noble prize winner- is a first class dreamer in this sense. In the first chapter,“Dream and the Transformations of Storytelling,”the effect of the dream on the title, genre and narration is explained. Mahfûz's two kinds of dreams,“narrative dream”and“narration of dreams”are also discussed. The first kind is a story within the frame story and is a kind of narrative technique related to the law of association and sub-plotting. The second is a narrative technique independent of the other narrative techniques, characterized by concentration and structural intensification, and deep awareness of the intellectual achievement reached by humanity through its history of thinking and scientific research in the field of dreams. The poetic language confirms the meaning and deepens it in an appropriate creative form combining the referent and imagined. The dream has led to shifts in the narrative vision. These include the“vision from within”in Bouillon's words. The dream also allowed the receipt of the two typical vision: the vision from the background, and the vision from the outside. The second chapter,“Dreams and Transformations of Personality,”shows that the narrative dreams are full of characters' types. These include the figures of leaders and models, the miraculous characters, the character as an object and the dreamer's character. All these characters have been influenced by the dream in shaping their structure. The third chapter,“Dreams and the Transitions of Fiction,”shows how Mahfûz's narrative dreams violated the chronological order in the texts through the mechanisms of flashback and fore-shadowing whether separate or adjacent in one dream. In addition, dreams introduced four narrative actions: omission whether explicit or implied, summarizing, the dialogue scenes whether internal or external, and descriptive passages. This made the movement of the text ranging from speedy to slow full of vitality and action. The time was never fixed or stopped but it was always in motion. These dreams had many effects on the place as the poetry of the places resulting from the use of a descriptive language verging on the language of poetry in its pluralism and overlapping and the free unrestricted transfer of narrator and characters and events. In the fourth chapter,“The Semantic Horizons of Mahfûz's Dreams,”it was revealed that Mahfûz's dreams led his narrative texts to semantic horizons through which Mahfûz's ideas, visions and wishes appeared by the use of symbolism. Thus the story“ I dreamed….”Is an allegory of the path of knowledge and the journey of life while“The Dreams of the Period of Recuperation”and“The Last Dreams”are deeply symbolic. In addition to what emerged in these works of metaphysical issues that occupied the mind of man throughout ages, such as the dualism of life and death, including the other binaries such as love and hatred, awareness and unconsciousness, reality and beyond reality, beginning and end, and light and darkness, and other binaries generated in the mind of Mahfûz through the poles of existence: life and death. Finally, the conclusion documents the most important findings of the study, followed by used sources and references for the study.
