Özet
Yorgos Lanthimos'un yönettiği Kutsal Geyiğin Ölümü (The Killing of a Sacred Deer, 2017) filmi sanatçının doğduğu toprakların mitsel ve felsefi zenginliğini içinde barındırır. Tiyatro kökenli olan auteur doğrudan olmasa da dolaylı yoldan filmin önemli referans noktalarından sayılabilecek bir tragedyayla (İphigenia Aulis'te) diyaloga girerek seyircisini 2400 yıl evveline götürüyor. Film her ne kadar günümüzde geçse de ele aldığı konular kadim felsefenin ve mitolojinin binlerce yıldır üstünde kafa yorduğu meselelerdir: aile, anne, baba, kardeş, dostluk, armağan, kurban, vicdan, fedakârlık, suç, ceza, kibir, sadakat, samimiyet, teslimiyet, iyi niyet, erkek, kadın, aşk, ölüm, hayat, iktidar, tanrı, ilh. Sinemasal göstergebilim yöntemini kullanarak felsefi ve mitsel bir çözümlemeye tabi tuttuğumuz çalışmada filmin bazen açık bazen gizli olan göstergelerini ifşa edecek bir yapı kurularak dilsel ve dil-dışı birçok unsurun kullanıldığı eserde kutsal metinlerle girilen diyalogla bu yapının zenginleştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Eseri çözümlerken göstergebilimin açtığı geniş alanın farkına varılarak bu alandan olabildiğince istifade edildi; filmin diğer çözümleme yöntemlerinden ziyade sinemasal göstergebilimle kurulan ilişkide daha özgürleştirici olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, contains the mythical and philosophical richness of the land where the artist was born. The auteur, who comes from theater background, takes his audience back 2400 years ago by entering into a dialogue with a tragedy (in Iphigenia Aulis), which can be considered one of the important reference points of the film, indirectly, though not directly. Although the film is set in the present day, the subjects it deals with are issues that ancient philosophy and mythology have pondered for thousands of years: family, mother, father, sibling, friendship, gift, sacrifice, conscience, sacrifice, crime, punishment, arrogance, loyalty, sincerity, submission, good will, man, woman, love, death, life, power, god... In the study where we subject the film to a philosophical and mythical analysis using the method of cinematic semiotics, the aim is to construct a framework that reveals the film's sometimes overt and sometimes hidden signs. This framework will be enriched by engaging in a dialogue with sacred texts, employing both linguistic and non-linguistic elements throughout the work. While analyzing the work, it was realized that semiotics opens up a vast area and this area was utilized as much as possible; it was determined that the relationship established with cinematic semiotics is more liberating compared to other film analysis methods.
