Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı basit araç ve gereçlerle gerçekleştirilen fen deneyleri ve etkinliklerinin, 8. sınıf öğrencilerin bilimin doğası görüşlerine etkisini araştırmaktır. Çalışma nitel bir çalışma olup olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma verileri 2020-2021 öğretim yılının ikinci yarıyılında, Karaman il merkezindeki bir devlet ortaokulunda 8. sınıf düzeyinde iki şubede öğrenim gören 23 öğrenciden elde edilmiştir. Kontrol grubuna“Basit Makineler”ünitesi 2018 Fen Bilimleri Öğretim Programı doğrultusunda mevcut öğretim yöntemi ile deney grubuna ise basit araç- gereçlerle hazırlanan deney ve etkinlikler eşliğinde verilmiştir. Ön test ve son test olarak öğrencilere uygulanan“Bilimin Doğası Ölçeği”ile nitel verilerin elde edilmesi sağlanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiş, ulaşılan temalar ve kodlara ait frekans ve yüzdeler tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda 2018 Fen Bilimleri Öğretim programı doğrultusunda fen bilimleri dersi işlenen şubede yer alan öğrencilerin bilimin doğası görüşlerinde kayda değer bir değişim görülmemiştir. Basit araç gereçlerle yapılan deney ve etkinliklerin uygulandığı şubede yer alan öğrencilerin ise bilimin doğasının“teori kavramı, ampirik bilginin bilimsel açıklamalardaki önemini, bilimde öznellik, bilimsel bilginin değişebilirliği, bilimsel yöntemin doğası ve bilimin amacı”unsurlarında olumlu yönde değişim gösterdiği görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçlarına yönelik öğrencilerin bilimin doğası görüşlerini geliştirmesi amacıyla öğretmenlerin eğitimlerini sürekli güncellemeleri, her bireyin farklı öğrenme stiline sahip olduğu göz önünde tutularak seçilen yöntemin yanında farklı öğrenme yöntemlerinindi uygulamaya dâhil edilmesi önerilebilir

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of science experiments and activities carried out with simple tools and equipment on 8th grade students' views on the nature of science. The study is a qualitative study and a phenomenological design was used. The study data were obtained from 23 students studying in two branches at the 8th grade level in a public secondary school in the city center of Karaman in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The“Simple Machines”unit was given to the control group using the current teaching method in line with the 2018 Science Curriculum, while the experimental group was given experiments and activities prepared with simple tools and equipment. Qualitative data were obtained with the“Nature of Science Scale”applied to the students as a pre-test and post-test. The data obtained were analyzed with content analysis, and the frequencies and percentages of the themes and codes obtained were presented in tables. As a result of the research, no significant change was observed in the views of the students in the branch where science courses were taught in line with the 2018 Science Curriculum regarding the nature of science. It was observed that the students in the branch where experiments and activities were carried out with simple tools and equipment showed positive changes in the elements of the nature of science“the concept of theory, the importance of empirical knowledge in scientific explanations, subjectivity in science, the changeability of scientific knowledge, the nature of the scientific method and the purpose of science”. In order to develop students' views on the nature of science based on the research results, it can be suggested that teachers should constantly update their training and that different learning methods should be included in the application along with the selected method, considering that each individual has a different learning style.
