Özet
Bu çalışma, otizm spektrum bozukluğu tanısı almış çocukların annelerinin dil ve konuşma terapistleri ile olan etkileşimlerini incelemektedir. Araştırmanın temel amacı, annelerin terapi sürecindeki beklentilerini, deneyimlerini ve farkındalıklarını belirlemektir. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımının benimsendiği bu çalışmada, fenomenoloji yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada, otizm spektrum bozukluğu tanılı çocuğa sahip 17 anne ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama araçları olarak katılımcı bilgi formu ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Görüşmeler, araştırmacının belirlediği uygun ortamlarda yüz yüze veya çevrimiçi olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırmalarda sıklıkla kullanılan bir analiz tekniği olan içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen veri seti MaxQDA Analytics PRO 2024 yazılımına aktarılmış ve bu yazılım aracılığıyla analiz süreci yürütülmüştür. Verilerin analiz edilmesinin ardından“Annelerin DKT Hizmetine Ulaşım Süreci”,“Annelerin DKT Hizmetinden Beklentileri”,“Annelerin DKT Hizmeti Seçimindeki Kriterleri”,“Annenin Terapist ile Etkileşimi”,“Annelerin Terapi Sürecine Dahiliyeti”,“Uygulanan Terapi Yöntemleri ve Süreç Hakkında Bilgilendirilme”,“Annelerin DKT Hizmetine Yönelik Memnuniyet Durumları”ve“Annelerin DKT Hizmetinin Geliştirilmesine Yönelik Önerileri”olmak üzere sekiz ana tema ortaya çıkmıştır. Katılımcıların çocuklarının DKT hizmetine ulaşmadan önce bir özel eğitim sürecinden geçtikleri gözlemlenmektedir. Katılımcıların DKT hizmetine yönelik en büyük beklentilerinin bu hizmet ile konuşma becerisinde gelişim gözlemlenmesine yönelik beklentiler olduğu görülmüştür. Katılımcıların DKT hizmetine yönelik başlıca seçim kriterinin terapistin çocuk ile uyum sağlayabilmesi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların hizmet aldıkları dil terapistleri ile iyi bir iletişim halinde olduğu görülmüş aynı zamanda katılımcılar terapistlerinin kendilerini motive ettiğinden bahsetmiştir. Katılımcıların en büyük önerisinin terapi saatleri ve sıklığının artırılmasına yönelik olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Katılımcılar yaşanılan sürecin ebeveynler için de zor ve yıpratıcı olduğundan bahsetmiş ve ailelerin de psikolojik destek alması gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir. Dil ve konuşma terapistlerinin otizm spektrum bozukluğu tanılı çocuğa sahip annelerle dayanışma içinde olmaları, daha etkili iletişim kurmaları, terapi sürecini annelerin ihtiyaçlarına göre uyarlamaları ve karşılaşılan zorluklara çözüm üretmeleri önemlidir.

This study examines the interactions between mothers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and speech and language therapists. The main aim of the research is to identify mothers' expectations, experiences, and awareness in the therapy process. In this study, a qualitative research approach is adopted, and the phenomenological method is employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 mothers of children diagnosed with ASD. The data collection tools used include a participant information form and a semi-structured interview form. The interviews were conducted face-to-face or online in environments deemed suitable by the researcher. After data collection, the audio recordings of the interviews were carefully reviewed by the researcher. The content analysis method, which is frequently used in qualitative research, was applied in this study. The data obtained from the study were transferred to MaxQDA Analytics PRO 2024 software, and the analysis process was conducted through this software. Following the data analysis, eight main themes emerged:“Mothers' Access to SLT Services”,“Mothers' Expectations from SLT Services”,“Criteria for Choosing SLT Services”,“Mothers' Interaction with the Therapist”,“Mothers' Involvement in the Therapy Process”,“Information Provided About the Applied Therapy Methods and Process”,“Mothers' Satisfaction with SLT Services”, and“Mothers' Suggestions for Improving SLT Services.”It was observed that the participants had gone through a special education process before accessing SLT services for their children. The participants' primary expectation from SLT services was to observe improvement in speech skills. The main criterion for choosing SLT services among the participants was the therapist's ability to establish rapport with the child. The participants reported having good communication with their speech therapists, and they also mentioned that their therapists motivated them. One of the most common suggestions from participants was to increase the frequency and duration of therapy sessions. The participants also noted that the process was challenging and exhausting for parents, and they emphasized the need for psychological support for families. It is important for speech and language therapists to be in solidarity with mothers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, to communicate more effectively, to tailor the therapy process to meet the needs of mothers, and to find solutions to the challenges encountered.
