Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı; 1878 yılında Kıbrıs'ın İngiltere egemenliğine girmesiyle yaşanan göç hareketlerinin nedenlerini ve bu göç hareketlerinin Kıbrıs Türk toplumunun sosyolojik yapısı üzerine olan etkilerini incelemektir. Araştırmada nitel ve nicel yöntem birlikte kullanılmıştır. Nitel bölümde göçe dair kavramsal ve kuramsal çerçeve oluşturulmuştur. Kavramsal çerçevede; göç kavramı, göç tarihi, göçün sebepleri, göç ve kültür, kimlik kavramı açıklanmıştır. Kuramsal çerçevede ise; göç olgusu sosyolojik olarak ele alınarak göç teorileri sosyolojik ve sistematik açıdan incelenmiştir. Lefkoşa'da odak grup görüşmeleri yapılmıştır. Göç hareketleri öncesi Türk toplumundaki sosyo-kültürel yaşamla göç hareketleri sonrası oluşan sosyo-kültürel yaşam arasındaki farklılıklar analiz edilmiş ve yaşanan göçler sonrasındaki toplum yapısı kültür değişimleri yönüyle de değerlendirilmiştir. Nicel bölümde ise, KKTC'de yaşayan 515 birey ile yüz yüze anket uygulaması yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; Kıbrıs'ta 1878 sonrasında yaşanan göçlerin büyük oranda yıldırma ve asimilasyon politikaları sonucu olduğu, Kıbrıs'ın demografik yapısını bozduğu, Türk toplumu üzerinde ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel gerilemeye neden olduğuna dair somut verilere ulaşılmıştır. 1974'den sonra Türkiye'den Kuzey Kıbrıs'a yapılan göçlerin, başta mal dağıtımı ve gelir dağılımından kaynaklı ekonomik sorunlar ve yaşam tarzına bağlı sorunlar olmak üzere çeşitli sorunlara neden olduğu ancak bu sorunların hiçbir zaman çatışmaya dönüşmediği anlaşılmıştır. Öte yandan, Türkiye'den Kuzey Kıbrıs'a yapılan göçün Türkiye ile olan siyasi bağların geliştirilmesi ve güçlendirilmesi, tarım alanlarının yaşatılması, savaş, çatışma ve göç nedeniyle azalan nüfusun arttırılması, ekonominin canlandırılması, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk toplumunun siyasi olarak varlığının devam etmesi gibi alanlara önemli katkılar yaptığı anlaşılmıştır. Ayrıca; araştırmanın temel problemi doğrultusunda oluşturulan hipotezlerin doğrulanması/doğrulanmaması ile ilgili temel verilere ulaşılmış ve araştırma sorularının cevaplanmasıyla ilgili yeterli bulgular elde edilmiştir.

The purpose of this study is to examine the reasons for the migration movements that occurred after Cyprus came under British rule in 1878 and the effects of these migration movements on the sociological structure of the Turkish Cypriot community. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used together in the research. In the qualitative part, the conceptual and theoretical framework regarding migration was created. In the conceptual framework; the concept of migration, the history of migration, the reasons for migration, migration and culture, and the concept of identity are explained. In the theoretical framework, the phenomenon of migration was addressed sociologically and migration theories were examined from a sociological and systematic perspective. Focus group discussions were held in Nicosia. The differences between the socio-cultural life in the Turkish society before the migration movements and the socio-cultural life that emerged after the migration movements were analyzed and the social structure after the migrations was also evaluated in terms of cultural changes. In the quantitative section, a face-to-face survey was conducted with 515 individuals living in the TRNC. As a result of the research; concrete data was obtained that the migrations that took place in Cyprus after 1878 were largely the result of intimidation and assimilation policies, that they disrupted the demographic structure of Cyprus, and that they caused economic, social and cultural regression in the Turkish society. It has been understood that the migration from Turkey to Northern Cyprus after 1974 caused various problems, especially economic problems stemming from the distribution of goods and income, and problems related to lifestyle, but these problems never turned into conflict. On the other hand, it has been understood that the migration from Turkey to Northern Cyprus has made significant contributions to areas such as developing and strengthening political ties with Turkey, keeping agricultural areas alive, increasing the population that has decreased due to war, conflict and migration, revitalizing the economy and continuing the political existence of the Turkish Cypriot community in Northern Cyprus. In addition, basic data regarding the verification/disverification of the hypotheses created in line with the main problem of the research were obtained and sufficient findings were obtained regarding the answering of the research questions.
