Özet
Bu tezde Machiavelli'nin Prens'i ile Büyük Friedrich'in Anti-Makyavel'i eleştirel bakış açısıyla incelenmiştir. Bu çerçevede Machiavelli'nin Prens'inde ortaya konulan güç odaklı siyaset anlayışı ile Büyük Friedrich'in Anti-Makyavel'indeki ahlâklı yönetim düşüncesi karşılaştırılarak, her iki düşünürün devlet yönetimi ve liderlik hakkındaki bakış açılarını ortaya koymak hedeflenmiştir. Bu konuda çalışma yapılmamasının temel sebebi, daha önce ayrıntılı olarak her iki düşünür üzerine hususen bir çalışma olmamasıdır. Ayrıca siyaset felsefesi denildiğinde en çok tartışılan düşünür Machiavelli'dir. Onu eleştirenler arasında Büyük Friedrich yer almaktadır. Machiavelli'yi başka birçok düşünür de eleştirmektedir. Ancak Büyük Friedrich gibi hususen Machiavelli'nin Prens'ini eleştirmek amacıyla bir eser kaleme almamışlardır. Ayrıca Büyük Friedrich yönetimde yer alan birisidir. Dolayısıyla bir yöneticinin yönetim hakkındaki düşünceleri dikkate değer bulunmuş olup Machiavelli'nin Prens'iyle karşılıklı olarak incelenecektir. Çalışmada Prens ve Anti-Makyavel karşılaştırma yapılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Buna göre Büyük Friedrich'in, Prens'e dair eleştirileri tespit edilen konular bağlamında incelenmiştir. Machiavelli ve Büyük Friedrich'in siyaset anlayışları prensliklerin yapısı, ele geçirilmesi ve elde tutulması ile iktidar ilişkileri, prensin vasıfları ve tebaasına karşı tutumları gibi konular üzerinden sistematik bir şekilde irdelenmiştir. Her bir konu başlığı altında, her iki düşünürün görüşleri karşılaştırılmış ve fikir ayrılıkları detaylıca analiz edilmiştir. Bu durum, okuyucuya her iki düşünürün devlet yönetimi, iktidar ve yöneticilik üzerine nasıl farklı perspektiflere sahip olduklarını gösterme amacını taşımaktadır. Tezin yöntemi, karşılaştırmalı analiz ve eleştirel değerlendirme biçimindedir. Bu yöntemle her iki eserin hem teorik hem de pratik açılardan nasıl farklı siyaset anlayışları sunduğu vurgulanmıştır. Ayrıca analizlerin daha anlaşılır hale gelmesi amacıyla, çalışmanın temelini teşkil eden bu iki eserin yanı sıra, başka düşünür ve araştırmacıların eserlerinden de yararlanılmıştır.

This thesis analyses Machiavelli's The Prince and Frederik the Great's Anti-Machiavel from a critical perspective. In this framework, it is aimed to reveal the perspectives of both thinkers on state governance and leadership by comparing the power-oriented political understanding put forward in Machiavelli's The Prince and the idea of moral governance in Frederik the Great's Anti-Machiavel. The study on this subject is because there has not been a detailed study on both thinkers. In addition, Machiavelli was the thinker who caused the most controversy regarding political philosophy. Frederik the Great is among those who criticised him. Many other thinkers also criticise Machiavelli. However, like Frederik the Great, they did not write a work especially to criticise Machiavelli's The Prince. Besides, Frederik the Great took part in the governance. Therefore, a ruler's thoughts about governance were found remarkable and will be analysed mutually with Machiavelli's The Prince. In this study, the works of The Prince and Anti-Machiavel were analysed by comparison. Accordingly, Frederik the Great's criticisms of The Prince are analysed in the context of the issues identified. Machiavelli's and Frederick the Great's understanding of politics has been systematically analysed through topics such as the structure of principalities, the capture and retention of principalities, power relations, the qualifications of the prince, and his attitude towards his subjects. Under each topic, the views of both thinkers are compared, and their differences in opinion are analysed in detail. It aims to show readers how the two thinkers have different perspectives on state governance, power, and rulership. The method followed in the dissertation is comparative analysis and critical evaluation. This method emphasises how the two works present different conceptions of politics from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Moreover, to make the analyses more comprehensible, in addition to these two works that constitute the basis of the study, works written by other thinkers and researchers were also used.
