Özet
Bu tez çalışması oyunculuk sanatında önemli yere sahip iki tiyatro metodistyeninin yöntemlerinin karşılaştırılarak“biyomekanik”ve“biyodinamik”oyunculuk metotlarının arasındaki benzerlik ve farklılıkları kavrayabilmek adına karşılaştırılmalı inceleme önerisi sunmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. İnsanlık, tarihsel süreci boyunca, varoluşsal meraklarının bir sonucu olarak doğayı anlamlandırma ve onunla etkileşim kurma çabasında olmuştur. Bu çaba, doğayı taklit etme, gözlemleme ve anlam yükleme yoluyla çeşitli ritüellerin doğmasına zemin hazırlamış, zamanla bu ritüelistik ifadeler tiyatronun ilk biçimlerine dönüşmüştür. Tiyatro, yalnızca bir sanat biçimi olarak değil, aynı zamanda insanın kendini, toplumunu ve evreni anlama arayışının sahne üzerindeki yansıması olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Tiyatronun tarihsel gelişimi, öykü anlatıcılığından ritüelistik danslara, kolektif deneyimlerden sahne estetiğine doğru evrilirken, bu dönüşümün temelinde oyunculuk yöntemlerinin çeşitliliği yer almıştır. Türk Dil Kurumu tarafından“bir amaca ulaşmak için izlenen sistemli yol”olarak tanımlanan metot, tiyatro sanatında da oyuncunun bedensel ve zihinsel ifadesini yönlendiren temel bir öğe olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Tiyatro tarihinde ön plana çıkan birçok kuramcı, geliştirdikleri sistemlerle hem kendi dönemlerine yön vermiş hem de sonraki kuşaklara ilham olmuştur. Bu bağlamda, Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde Meyerhold'un“biyomekanik”sistemi, tarihsel ve teorik temelleriyle incelenirken; ikinci bölümde Terzopoulos'un Antik Yunan tragedya mirasından beslenerek geliştirdiği“biyodinamik”yaklaşım ele alınacaktır. Üçüncü ve son bölüm ise her iki yöntemi karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz edecek; bedensel anlatım, ritüel estetiği ve oyuncu-merkezli performans anlayışları üzerinden benzerlik ve farklılıklarını ortaya koyacaktır. Bu çalışma, çağdaş oyunculuk kuramlarında bedenin merkeziliğini vurgulayan iki önemli yaklaşımı derinlemesine inceleyerek, beden-oyunculuk ilişkisine yönelik yeni perspektifler sunmayı ve sahne pratiğinde farklı metodolojik arayışlara katkı sağlamayı hedeflemektedir.

This thesis aims to propose a comparative analysis of two significant acting methodologies biomechanics and biodynamic acting developed by two influential theatre practitioners, by exploring their similarities and differences. Throughout history, humanity has sought to understand and interact with nature as a result of existential curiosity. This endeavor, expressed through imitation, observation, and symbolic interpretation of nature, laid the groundwork for various rituals which eventually evolved into the earliest forms of theatre. Theatre is regarded not only as an art form but also as a reflection of humanity's quest to understand the self, society, and the universe. The historical evolution of theatre from storytelling and ritualistic dances to collective experiences and aesthetic performances has been shaped by the diversity of acting methods. According to the Turkish Language Association, a“method”is defined as“a systematic path followed to achieve a goal.”In the context of theatre, it functions as a fundamental element that guides the actor's physical and mental expression. Many prominent theatre methodologists have influenced their eras and inspired future generations with the systems they developed. In this context, the first chapter of the study examines Vsevolod Meyerhold's biomechanical system, focusing on its historical and theoretical foundations. The second chapter explores Theodoros Terzopoulos's biodynamic approach, which draws upon the legacy of Ancient Greek tragedy. The third and final chapter offers a comparative analysis of both methods, highlighting their similarities and differences in terms of bodily expression, ritual aesthetics, and performer-centered performance principles. By thoroughly investigating these two methodologies that emphasize the centrality of the body in contemporary acting theory, this study aims to provide new perspectives on the relationship between the body and acting. Furthermore, it seeks to contribute to the exploration of alternative methodological approaches in stage practice.
