ABSTRACT The modern period refers to the time from the mid-20th century to the present day. In addition to developments in the field of music, it has also made its impact felt in literature, philosophy, art, and politics. Contemporary music does not adhere to a specific style or set of rules, unlike the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods, Francis Poulenc associated his musical style with poetry and painting. For Poulenc, deeply understanding the poet was very important when composing songs. Therefore, he only set the poems of poets he knew personally and with whom he had a dialogue to music. For him, it was crucial to reflect the subtleties of the poet's expression through music. In addition to the inspiration he drew from poetry, Poulenc also frequently visited museums and reflected what he saw and the emotions he experienced during these visits in his music. In Francis Poulenc's Trio Sonata for oboe, bassoon and piano, although the composer is a composer of the contemporary period, traces of the neoclassical movement can be seen in the work. This work both remains in a neoclassical style and reflects the aesthetic understanding of the contemporary period. The bright, elegant tone of the oboe is intertwined with the deep and moody tone of the bassoon. The piano not only accompanies the oboe and bassoon, but also shapes the character of the piece with its lively and lyrical passages. In this work, Poulenc's musical structure is revealed with calm and lively transitions. The lively and powerful sections of the work, contrasted with the slow and melancholic passages, provide the work with a spiritual diversity.
