Özet
XIX. Yüzyıl Osmanlı Devleti için değişim açısından oldukça hareketli bir dönem olmuştur. Toplum modernizasyon ve reform hareketleri ile sosyal, siyasal ve kültürel olarak hızlı bir değişim ve dönüşüm sürecine girmiştir. Bu değişim İstanbul başta olmak üzere Osmanlı Devleti'nin farklı yerlerindeki mimari yapıların tamir ve onarımında da gözlemlenmiştir. Bu yapılar arasında toplum tarafından hem dini hem de sosyal bir merkez olarak kullanılan camiler ayrı bir öneme sahiptir. Ancak Osmanlı Devleti'nin bir çok yerinde olduğu gibi İstanbul'da inşa edilen camiler de zamanın olumsuz etkisi, insan unsuru, deprem, yangın, fırtına gibi doğal afetler sebebiyle yıkılmış ve hasar görmüştür. Doktora çalışmamız, XIX. Yüzyılda Osmanlı Devleti'nin başkenti İstanbul'da tamiratı ve onarımı yapılan camileri T.C. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Devlet Arşivleri Başkanlığı Osmanlı Arşivlerinde bulunan belgelere göre incelemeyi esas almıştır. Tezimiz aşağıdaki başlıca şu sorulara cevap aramaktadır: XIX. Yüzyıl İstanbul'unda tamir edilen camiler hangileridir? Bu camiler şehrin hangi semtlerinde yer almaktadır? Tamir gören yapılar hangi vakıflara bağlıdır? Cami tamiratının ardında yatan temel sebepler nelerdir? Mimari açıdan en fazla müdahale edilen bölümler hangileridir? Bu tamiratları hangi kalfalar ya da müteahhitler gerçekleştirmiştir? Yapılan tamiratlar için ne kadar bir mali kaynak ayrılmıştır? Bu tamirat faaliyetleri hangi tarihlerde icra edilmiştir? Tezimiz, T.C. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Devlet Arşivleri Başkanlığı Osmanlı Arşivlerinde online/çevrim içi olarak yapmış olduğumuz taramalar sonucunda tespit edebildiğimiz keşif defterleri, tamirat belgeleri ve konu ile ilgili resmi yazışmalara dair birincil kaynakları esas almaktadır. Yapmış olduğumuz araştırmada 10.500 sayfalık arşiv belgesi yukarıdaki sorular çerçevesinde okunarak taranmıştır. XIX. Yüzyıl boyunca farklı tarihlerde yapılmış ¬- arşivlerde geçtiği şekliyle - 1.077 adet camiye ait 2.476 adet cami tamirat belgesi tespit edilmiştir. Bu tamiratlarda görev alan Osmanlı Devleti'nin çok kültürlü yapısına paralel olarak 219 adet kalfa/müteahhit ismi ve XIX. Yüzyıl İstanbul'da tamir edilen camilerin ait olduğu 106 adet vakıf ismi tespit edilmiştir.

The 19th century was a very active period of change for the Ottoman Empire. The society entered a process of rapid social, political and cultural change and transformation with the modernization and reform movements. This change was also observed in the repair and renovation of architectural structures in different parts of the Ottoman Empire, especially in Istanbul. Among these buildings, mosques, which were used as both a religious and social center by the society, have a special importance. However, as in many other parts of the Ottoman Empire, the mosques built in Istanbul were destroyed and damaged due to the negative effects of time, human factors, natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires and storms. Our doctoral study is based on analyzing the mosques that were repaired and restored in Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, according to the documents in the Ottoman Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. Our thesis seeks answers to the following main questions: Which mosques were repaired in the 19th century Istanbul? In which neighborhoods of the city are these mosques located? Which foundations did the repaired buildings belong to? What are the main reasons behind mosque repairs? What are the most architecturally intervened parts? Which journeymen or contractors carried out these repairs? How much financial resources were allocated for these repairs? On which dates were these repair activities carried out? This study is based on primary sources such as exploration books, repair documents and official correspondence related to the subject, which we were able to identify as a result of our online searches in the Ottoman Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Directorate of State Archives. In our research, 10,500 pages of archival documents were scanned by reading within the framework of the above questions. During the 19th century, 2,476 mosque repair documents belonging to 1,077 mosques ¬- as mentioned in the archives - were identified. In parallel with the multicultural structure of the Ottoman Empire, 219 names of journeymen/contractors who took part in these repairs and 106 names of foundations to which the mosques repaired in the 19th century Istanbul belonged were identified.
