Özet
Bu çalışma, 18. yüzyıl Avrupa'sında şekillenen Aydınlanma düşüncesinin eğitim felsefesine etkilerini, özellikle Jean-Jacques Rousseau'nun özgün katkıları ekseninde ele almaktadır. Tezde, Aydınlanma'nın bireysel özgürlük, akılcılık ve bilimsel düşünceye dayalı temel ilkeleri tarihsel ve felsefi bağlamda tartışılarak, bu ilkelerin modern eğitim anlayışının biçimlenmesindeki rolü incelenmiştir. Başta Locke, Kant, Voltaire, Montesquieu, Diderot ve Condorcet gibi düşünürlerin görüşleri ışığında Aydınlanma eğitiminin karakteristik özellikleri açıklanmıştır. Ardından Rousseau'nun“doğaya uygunluk”,“genel irade”ve“yurttaşlık eğitimi”gibi kavramları çerçevesinde eğitim anlayışı detaylı şekilde analiz edilmiştir. Tezde, Rousseau'nun bireyin ahlaki, zihinsel ve duygusal yönlerini bütüncül biçimde geliştirmeyi amaçlayan pedagojik modeli ile toplumsal dönüşüm arasındaki bağlantı ortaya konmuştur. Son olarak, Aydınlanma eğitiminin modern çağın demokratik ve eleştirel düşünmeye dayalı eğitim sistemleri üzerindeki kalıcı etkileri vurgulanmıştır. Bu bağlamda tez, hem felsefi düşünce tarihi hem de eğitim bilimleri açısından kapsamlı bir çözümleme sunmaktadır.

The present study explores the impact of Enlightenment thought, which emerged in 18th-century Europe, on educational philosophy, with a particular focus on the original contributions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The thesis discusses the historical and philosophical foundations of Enlightenment principles - such as individual liberty, rationalism, and scientific reasoning - and examines how these ideas have shaped the modern understanding of education. Drawing on the perspectives of leading Enlightenment thinkers such as Locke, Kant, Voltaire, Montesquieu, Diderot, and Condorcet, the defining features of Enlightenment-based education are outlined. The analysis then centers on Rousseau's educational philosophy, particularly his concepts of“natural development,”“general will, ”and“civic education. ”The thesis highlights how Rousseau's pedagogical model aims at the holistic development of the individual - morally, intellectually, and emotionally - while also contributing to broader social transformation. Finally, it is emphasized that Enlightenment educational thought continues to influence contemporary democratic and critical thinking-oriented education systems. Within this framework, the thesis offers a comprehensive analysis that is relevant both to the history of philosophical thought and to the field of educational sciences.
