V ÖZET EXTRANET VE VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK TEKNOLOJİLERİ VE GELECEĞE YÖNELİK TEKNOLOJİ ETKİLEŞİMLERİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI TOPBAŞ, Göksel Yüksek Lisans Tezi, Bilgisayar Bilimleri Mühendisliği Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Doç. Dr. Levent Toker Şubat 2000, 181 sayfa Bu çalışmamda“extranet”ve“VPN”(“Virtual Private Network”) ağ sistemlerinin gelişimleri ve yapıları incelenerek, tasarım, geliştirme, kurulum ve güvenliklerinin sağlanma yöntemleri araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca bu sistemlerin geleceğe yönelik etkileşimlerinin ne yönlerde olacağı saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Öncelikle“Extranet”ve“VPN”teknolojilerine temel oluşturacak“Web”teknolojileri ve“intranet”teknolojileri konularında incelemeler yapılmıştır. Başarılı bir“Extranet”ve“VPN”kurma ve yönetiminin değişik yöntemleri incelenerek, organizasyon ve firmaların,“Internet”ve teknolojilerine dayanan bu ağ sistemlerinden, karlılıklarını artırmak ve rekabet ortamında avantaj sağlamak için en etkin şekilde nasıl yararlanabilecekleri araştırılmıştır. Bu incelemelerden sonra gelecekte“Internet”ve teknolojilerinde gerçekleşmesi beklenen gelişmeler araştırılarak bu doğrultularda“extranet”ve“VPN”teknolojilerinin nasıl etkilenebileceği ve bu teknolojilere yapılan veya yapılacak yatırımların bu gelişmelere paralel olarak nasıl korunacağı sorularına cevap aranmıştır.

Dr. Levent Toker February 2000, 181 pages In this study, the evolution and anatomies of Extranet and VPN networking systems have been analyzed and the methods for designing, developing, implementing these systems and maintaining security have been researched. Firstly the Web and intranet technologies that form the basis of Extranet and VPN networking systems have been studied and analyzed. Then the various methods for successfully building and managing these systems have been analyzed and the various ways how the organizations and companies could benefit from these Internet technology based systems most efficiently and increase their profits and gain advantage in the competition with others have been researched. After these studies and researches I tried to analyze and to find the directions to see how the Internet and its technologies would evolve. Using these directions I tried to find answers to the questions like how extranet and VPN technologies could be affected from these changes and how the investments for these technologies could be best preserved.
