Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, 5. sınıf Geometrik Nicelikler teması kapsamında yer alan“dikdörtgenin çevre uzunluğu ve alanı”konusunun eğitici çizgi roman aracılığıyla öğretiminin, öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına ve matematiğe yönelik tutumlarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, 2024-2025 eğitim-öğretim yılında Mersin ili Tarsus ilçesinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 5. sınıf öğrencileriyle yürütülmüştür. Örneklem; deney grubunda 23, kontrol grubunda 24 olmak üzere toplam 47 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama sürecinde“Matematik Tutum Ölçeği”ve“Dikdörtgen Başarı Testi”kullanılmıştır. Deney grubunda araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen eğitici çizgi roman ile öğretim yapılırken, kontrol grubunda mevcut öğretim yöntemi uygulanmaya devam etmiştir. Uygulama dört hafta sürdürülmüş; süreç öncesinde ve sonrasında ilgili testler öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada, eğitici çizgi romanla gerçekleştirilen öğretimin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına ve matematiğe yönelik tutumlarına etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda, başarı testinden ve tutum ölçeğinden elde edilen veriler değerlendirilmiştir. Başarı testi verilerinin analizi sonucunda, deney ve kontrol gruplarının son test başarı puanları arasında, deney grubu lehine istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Tutum ölçeği verilerinin analizi ise, eğitici çizgi roman ile öğretimin öğrencilerin matematik tutumlarını olumlu yönde etkilediğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'nın 2024-2025 eğitim-öğretim yılında yayımladığı örnek sorular ile araştırmada kullanılan eğitici çizgi roman ve başarı testi karşılaştırılmış; MEB'in kullandığı soru tarzları ile eğitici çizgi roman ve başarı testinde yer alan uygulama içeriklerinin benzerlik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Deney grubuna uygulanan son test başarı puanlarındaki anlamlı fark, eğitici çizgi romanla gerçekleştirilen öğretimin etkili olduğunun bir göstergesidir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, matematik derslerinin eğitici çizgi romanla işlenmesinin, öğrencilerin hem akademik başarılarını artırdığını hem de matematiğe yönelik tutumlarını olumlu yönde etkilediğini göstermektedir.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of teaching the topic“Perimeter and Area of a Rectangle,”which is included in the 5th-grade“Geometric Quantities”unit, through an educational comic on students' academic achievement and attitudes toward mathematics. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups, one of the quantitative research methods. The study was conducted with 5th-grade students enrolled in a public school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Tarsus, Mersin, during the 2024–2025 academic year. The sample consisted of a total of 47 students, including 23 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group. During the data collection process, the“Mathematics Attitude Scale”and the“Rectangle Achievement Test”were used. While the experimental group received instruction through an educational comic developed by the researcher, the control group continued with the existing curriculum. The implementation lasted for four weeks, and the related tests were administered to the students before and after the process. The obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical package program. The study examined the effects of educational comic-based instruction on students' academic achievement and attitudes toward mathematics. In this context, data obtained from the achievement test and the attitude scale were evaluated. The analysis of the achievement test data revealed a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group between the post-test achievement scores of the experimental and control groups. The analysis of the attitude scale data indicated that instruction through educational comics positively affected students' attitudes toward mathematics. In addition, the sample questions published by the Ministry of National Education for the 2024–2025 academic year were compared with the educational comic and achievement test used in the study. It was determined that the question types used by the Ministry and the application contents in the educational comic and achievement test showed similarities. The significant difference in the post-test achievement scores of the experimental group indicates that instruction through educational comics is effective. The results indicate that teaching mathematics lessons through educational comics increases students' academic achievement and positively affects their attitudes toward mathematics.
