Özet
m ÖZET [“Mithat Cemal Kuntay Hayatı, Sanatı ve Eserleri”] konulu araştırmamızın amacı, Fecr-i Âti kuşağından olduğu halde bu topluluğa girmeyip sonradan millî edebiyat hareketine katılmış olan Mithat Cemal Kuntay' ı bütün yönleriyle inceleyerek edebî kişiliğini ve eserlerini tanıtmaktır. Mithat Cemal 1887 yılında İstanbul'da doğmuş; 1956 yılında İstanbul'da ölmüştür. Muhacir olarak Rumeli'den gelmiş bir ailenin oğlu olan yazar, Vefa Lisesi'nden sonra Hukuk Fakültesi'ni bitirmiştir. Doktora sınavında gösterdiği başarı sebebiyle bir süre İdare Hukuku hocası Hakkı Paşa'nın yanında asistan olarak çalışmıştır. Daha sonra Adalet Bakanlığı' nda çeşitli görevlerde bulunmuş ve kendi isteği ile Beyoğlu 4. Noterliğine getirilmiştir. Yirmi yıl boyunca bu görevde kalmış, ancak bu süre içerisinde esas mesleği olan hukukla birlikte edebiyat ve şiir sevgisini bir arada yürüterek çeşitli eserler vücuda getirmiştir. Mithat Cemal' in eserleri incelendiğinde onun bir edebî tür üzerine yoğunlaşmak yerine birçok türü deneyerek farklı alanlarda eserler verdiği görülür. Bunlar; şiir, roman, tiyatro ve biyografidir. Ayrıca ders kitapları da yazan yazarın çeşitli dergilerde şiir ve yazıları yayınlanmış bulunmaktadır. Özellikle yazmış olduğu tek roman olan“Üç İstanbul”ile ün yapmış olan Kuntay, bu romanında II. Abdülhamit, İttihat ve Terakki ve Mütareke yıllarının İstanbul'unu tanıtmıştır. Şiir alanında ise Mehmet Akif Ersoy'un izinden gitmiş ve dile getirdiği epik tarzdaki şiirleri ile özellikle Millî Mücadele yıllarında vatanperverâne duyguların tercümanı olmuştur. Tiyatro alanında ilgi noktası yine vatan olup bu sahada meydana getirdiği iki eserde bu konuyu işlemiştir. Biyografi türünde ise Mehmet Akif, Namık Kemal ve Ali Suavi gibi tarihî ve edebî şahsiyetleri tanıtmıştır.IV Yaşadığı dönemin sosyal, politik ve edebî ortamını da belirtmek suretiyle Mithat Cemal Kuntay'ı ve eserlerini incelemeye çalıştığımız bu araştırmanın bundan sonraki çalışmalarda yol gösterici bir nitelik taşıyabileceğini düşünmekteyiz.

SUMMARY The purpose of our research titled“The life, Art and Works of Mithat Cemal Kuntay”is to study with all its aspects Mithat Cemal Kuntay who, despite the point that he was belonging to“Fecr-i Âti”he did not enter this society later joined the national literature movement, and thus to introduce his literary personality and works. Mithat Cemal was born in Istanbul in 1887, and he died in 1956. The writer who was a son of a family which came as immigrant from Rumelia, after graduation from Vefa High School, completed the Law Faculty. Due to the success he displayed in the Doctorate examination, he worked for a certain time with Hakkı Pasha who was the professor of Administrative Law. Later on he served in various positions in the Ministry of Justice, and was nominated upon his own desire as 4 Notary Public of Beyoğlu. He remained for 20 years in this position; however, during this period, he carried on together the passion for literature and poetry together with law which was his actual profession, and thus created various works. When we study the works of Kuntay we see that he tried many sorts instead of concentrating on one literary sort, and thus produced works in different grounds. These are poetries, novels, plays and biography. Also, the writer who wrote school books too, he has poetries and articles published in various periodicals. Kuntay who was well-known with his single novel titled“Three İstanbul”which he wrote specially, he introduced in this novel Abdülhamit the Ilnd,“ittihat ve Terakki”(Union and Progress) and Istanbul in the armistice years. As about in the poetry ground, he followed, he trace of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, and with the epic style poetries he created, he expressed particularly during the years of National Struggle, the patriotic feelings. His point of emphasis in play works is again fatherland and heVI elaborated this topic in two works he created in this ground. As about biography, he introduced historic and literary personalities such as Mehmet Akif, Namık Kemal and Ali Suavi. By pointing out the social, political and literary setting of the period he lived in, we think that this research where we tried to study Mithat Cemal Kuntay and his works, would be of a nature which will serve as a quide for future studies.
