Özet
Bu araştırmada Türk sosyolojisinin önemli isimlerinden olan Sabri Fehmi Ülgener'in zihniyet teorisinden hareketle Türk aydınının tarihsel ve toplumsal rolünün geçmişten günümüze değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Zihniyeti genel anlamda bir toplumun görünmez mirası ve kolektif bir bilinçaltı olarak ifade etmek mümkündür. Bu bakımdan zihniyet, ait olduğu toplumun kültürel kodlarını içerisinde barındıran bir yapı olarak toplumun yaşadığı olaylar, durumlar, değişimler karşısında verdiği tepkilerin cevaplarını bulduğumuz görünmeyeni önceleyen ama 'görünen' ve 'görünmeyenin' bütüncül olarak oluşturduğu bir sistem şeklinde ele alınabilir. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı; Ülgener'in sosyolojisinden hareketle toplumların zihniyetleri üzerinden aydınların dönüştürücü özelliğinin öneminin ortaya konulmasıdır. Günümüzde aydınların bu dönüştürücü özelliğini evrensel pozitivist/seküler paradigma içinde kaybolarak kendi özgün millileşmesinden uzaklaşmıştır. Yapılan bu araştırma, bahsettiğimiz bu kayboluştan nasıl çıkılabileceğine yönelik zihniyet temelli bakış açısının geliştirilmesini içermektedir. Araştırmanın kavramsal çerçeve bölümünde zihniyet, aydın, aydın sosyolojisi ve kültür gibi kavramlar açıklanmış olup daha sonrasında bu kavramların Ülgener'in fikirlerine yansıyan şekli ifade edilmiştir. Tezin sonraki bölümlerde ana hareket noktası Ülgener'in kendi yazmış olduğu metinlerden oluşmuş olup; toplumsal yapı, zihniyet ve izm'lere yönelik çözümlemeleri ile aydın sosyolojisinin toplumsal önemine vurgu yapılmasına çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın özgün ve ana damarı olarak dördüncü bölümünde Osmanlı'dan Modern Türkiye sürecine uzanan aydının düşünce ve zihniyet dünyasındaki değişimler kültürel izafilik çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Bu noktada ele alınan konuyu incelemede 'zihniyet tahlili ile kültürel izafilik' ilişkisinin önemine dikkat çekilmiştir. Kültürel izafilik ve zihniyet etkileşimi üzerinden 'Yeni Türkiye'de Milli Aydın' inşasının önemi ve gerekliliğine olan hem ihtiyaç hem de onun özgün inşası ortaya konulmuştur. Böyle bir ihtiyacın ortaya konulması; günümüzde Türkiye'deki birçok aydının içinde bulunduğu yabancılaşmış zihniyetin, milli kimlik krizine, Ülgener'in bütüncül zihniyet teorisi üzerinden bir çözüm yolu oluşturmaya imkân sunabilmektedir.

This research aims to evaluate the historical and social role of the Turkish intellectual from the past to the present, drawing upon the theory of mentality by Sabri Fehmi Ülgener, a prominent figure in Turkish sociology. Generally, mentality can be described as the invisible heritage and collective subconscious of a society. In this regard, mentality can be analyzed as a system that precedes the invisible but is integrally formed by the 'seen' and the 'unseen', containing the cultural codes of its society, and offering answers to the reactions a society exhibits in the face of events, situations, and changes it experiences. The main objective of this study is to highlight the significance of the transformative characteristic of intellectuals through the lens of societal mentality, based on Ülgener's sociology. In contemporary times, this transformative quality of intellectuals has been lost, moving away from its unique nationalization by becoming absorbed within the universal positivist/secular paradigm. This research involves developing a mentality-based perspective on how to emerge from this discussed loss. The conceptual framework section of the research clarifies concepts such as mentality, intellectual, sociology of the intellectual, and culture, and subsequently expresses how these concepts are reflected in Ülgener's ideas. The subsequent sections of the thesis primarily rely on Ülgener's own texts as the main point of departure; the study attempts to emphasize the social importance of the sociology of the intellectual through his analyses of social structure, mentality, and“isms.”The fourth chapter, which constitutes the unique and core stream of the research, addresses the changes in the thought and mentality world of the intellectual extending from the Ottoman Empire to the modern Republic of Turkey within the framework of cultural relativism. At this juncture, attention is drawn to the importance of the relationship between mentality analysis and cultural relativism in examining the topic. Through the interaction of cultural relativism and mentality, the necessity and importance of constructing a 'National Intellectual in the New Turkey' and its unique construction are put forth. Presenting such a need offers a potential solution, based on Ülgener's holistic mentality theory, to the alienated mentality and the national identity crisis currently experienced by many intellectuals in Turkey.
