Özet
Bu tez, portre sanatında figür ve mekân etkileşimini psikolojik temsiller aracılığıyla incelemektedir. Portre resminde, mekânın anlatıyı kuran bir unsur olarak portreye etkilerini araştırmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, portreyi figür, mekân, ışık ve renk faktörleri üzerinden çok katmanlı bir ifade alanı olarak kavramsallaştırmak ve bu doğrultuda görsel ve psikolojik çözümleme için uygulanabilir bir çerçeve önermektir. Kuramsal bölümde dışavurumcu ve figüratif geleneğin seçilmiş sanatçıları üzerinden portre, mekân ilişkisi tartışılmış; görsel kültür ve mekân kuramı literatürüyle açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın yöntemi, nitel araştırma yöntemi olan literatür taramadır. Nitel yaklaşım, belirli bir sorunun bütüncül bir biçimde açıklanmasını sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca psikoloji içerikli portre uygulama resimlerini analiz etmek için Erwin Panofsky'nin ikonografik ve ikonolojik sanat eseri analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Uygulama bölümünde araştırmacı tarafından üretilen portre resimleri aynı figürün farklı mekânlarda konumlandırılması ve ardışık pozlarla yinelenmesi gibi stratejilerle sınanmıştır. Uygulama resimlerinin analizinde mekânın psikolojik belirleyiciliği, ışık, renk ve kompozisyonun anlatı işlevi ve kimliğin akışkan temsili olmak üzere üç eksende temellendirilmiştir. Araştırmada portre mekân etkileşimi; bireysel iç dünya, toplumsal kimlik ve kültürel kodların kesişim alanı olarak incelenmektedir. Bu doğrultuda portre resmi, psikolojik bir deneyim alanı olup, mekân, zaman ve ışık etkileşimiyle yeniden kurulan bir anlatı yüzeyi olarak konumlandırılmaktadır. Bu çalışma, sanat tarihi, mekân teorileri, psikoloji ve sanat uygulamaları gibi farklı alanları tek bir analiz şemasında buluşturan disiplinlerarası bir model sunmaktadır. Portre resminin sanat tarihsel süreçteki öne çıkan örneklerinden yola çıkarak yapılan karşılaştırmalı görsel psikolojik çözümlemelerin literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Uygulamalar bölümünde yer alan portre resimlerinde, aynı figürün farklı mekanlarda veya aynı figürün ardışık pozlarının tek bir mekânda resmedilmesi kimliğin çoğul ve akışkan bir yapı olarak betimlenmesine kapı aralamıştır. Bu bağlamada tez, portre resmini sabit bir kimlik temsili olarak değil mekân ve zaman faktörlerine bağlı olarak değişen bir özne olarak yorumlanmasını önermektedir.

This thesis examines the interaction between figure and space in portrait art through psychological representations. It investigates the effects of space, as an element that constructs narrative, on the portrait in painting. The aim of the study is to conceptualize the portrait as a multi-layered field of expression through the factors of figure, space, light, and color, and, in this direction, to propose an applicable framework for visual and psychological analysis. In the theoretical section, the relationship between portrait and space is discussed through selected artists from the expressionist and figurative tradition, and it is explained with reference to the literature on visual culture and spatial theory. The method of the study is literature review, which is a qualitative research method. The qualitative approach enables a given problem to be explained in a holistic manner. In addition, Erwin Panofsky's iconographic and iconological method of art analysis is used to examine portrait paintings with psychological content. In the practice section, the portraits produced by the researcher are tested through strategies such as positioning the same figure in different spaces and repeating it with successive poses. In the analysis of the practice works, three axes are taken as a basis: the psychological determinacy of space, the narrative function of light, color, and composition, and the fluid representation of identity. In this research, the interaction of portrait and space is examined as an intersectional field of individual inner world, social identity, and cultural codes. Accordingly, the portrait painting is positioned as a field of psychological experience and as a narrative surface reconstructed through the interaction of space, time, and light. This study presents an interdisciplinary model that brings together different fields, such as art history, spatial theories, psychology, and artistic practice, within a single analytical scheme. It is considered that the comparative visual and psychological analyses, carried out on the basis of prominent examples of portrait painting in art and historical process, will contribute to the literature. In the portraits included in the practice section, depicting the same figure in different spaces, or successive poses of the same figure within a single space, has opened up a way to describe identity as a plural and fluid structure. In this context, the thesis proposes that the portrait painting should be interpreted not as a fixed representation of identity, but as a subject that changes in relation to factors of space and time.
