Özet
Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de 2009-2021 dönemi için intihar oranlarını etkileyen sosyoekonomik faktörlerin bölgesel düzeyde ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır. Mekansal ekonometrik analiz yöntemlerinin uygulandığı çalışmada, veriler Türkiye İstatistik Kurumundan (TÜİK) İstatistiki Bölge Birimleri Sınıflandırması'na (İBBS) göre Düzey-2 bazında elde edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda; bölgesel düzeyde kişi başına gelir, işsizlik, enflasyon, eğitim ve boşanma oranları tahmin edilen modele açıklayıcı değişkenler olarak dahil edilmiştir. Yapılan önsel testler sonucunda mekansal bağımlılık tespit edilerek, Rassal Etkili Mekansal Hata Modeli'nin (SEM-RE) en uygun model olduğu belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, bölgesel düzeyde gelir düzeyi ve eğitim seviyesi artışının intihar oranlarını azalttığını; işsizlik ve enflasyonun ise artırıcı yönde etkisinin olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Öte yandan boşanma oranının ise intihar oranı üzerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir etkisinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar, intiharın psikolojik olduğu kadar bölgesel ve sosyoekonomik koşullardan da etkilenen çok boyutlu bir olgu olduğunu göstermektedir.

This study aims to examine the socioeconomic factors affecting suicide rates in Turkey over the period 2009-2021 at the regional level. In the study applying spatial econometric analysis methods, the data were obtained from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) at the NUTS (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics) Level 2. Accordingly, at the regional level, per capita income, unemployment, inflation, education, and divorce rates were included in the estimated model as explanatory variables. The results of the preliminary diagnostic tests indicate the presence of spatial dependence, suggesting that the Random Effects Spatial Error Model (SEM-RE) is the appropriate model specification. The empirical findings reveal that increases in income levels and educational levels reduce suicide rates at the regional level, whereas unemployment and inflation have an increasing effect. On the other hand, it was determined that the divorce rate does not have a statistically significant effect on the suicide rate. Overall, the results demonstrate that suicide is a multidimensional phenomenon influenced not only by psychological factors but also by regional and socioeconomic conditions.
