Özet
Bu çalışma, modern tiyatro yönetmenlerinden Theodoros Terzopoulos'un geliştirdiği özgün oyunculuk yöntemini ve bu yöntemin sahneleme biçimlerine, özellikle reji estetiğine nasıl yansıdığını incelemektedir. Antik Yunan tragedyasından beslenen Terzopoulos, beden, nefes ve sesi bütünsel bir yaklaşım içinde yeniden düşünerek oyunculuk kavramını derinleştirir. Bu yönüyle yalnızca oyunculuk anlayışına değil, sahnede kurduğu reji diline de radikal bir perspektif kazandırır. Araştırmada Terzopoulos'un yöntemi tarihsel bağlamı ve felsefi altyapısı çerçevesinde ele alınmış; ardından bu yöntemin somutlaştığı sahneleme tercihleri, oyunculuk biçimi ve sahne estetiği irdelenmiştir. Terzopoulos'un oluşturduğu oyunculuk pratiği tiyatronun geleceği için büyük bir potansiyele sahiptir ve genç nesil oyuncular için bir ilham kaynağı görevi görmektedir. Bu nedenle, Terzopoulos'un oyunculuk yöntemini incelemek, gelecekteki sanatsal uygulamaları şekillendirebilecek metodolojileri keşfetmek için de önemlidir. Çalışma, literatür taraması, nitel araştırma ve oyun çözümlemeleri temelinde yapılandırılmıştır. Terzopoulos'un yönettiği oyunlardan seçilen örnekler aracılığıyla ışık, müzik, dekor, kostüm ve oyuncu performansı gibi reji unsurları değerlendirilmiş; bu unsurların nasıl bir bütünlük içinde işlediği analiz edilmiştir. Özellikle üç önemli tragedyası olan“Persler”,“Zincire Vurulmuş Prometheus”ve“Troyalı Kadınlar”oyunları üzerinden Terzopoulos yönteminin sahnede en güçlü şekilde yansıdığı örnekler detaylı biçimde incelenmiştir. Bu tezin temel amacı, Terzopoulos'un yöntemini sadece teorik bir düzlemde tanıtmak değil; aynı zamanda sahnelenmiş eserleri ve tanıklıklar üzerinden yöntemin pratikteki yansımalarını ortaya koymaktır. Böylece Terzopoulos'un tiyatro sanatına sunduğu katkılar daha açık bir şekilde değerlendirilebilecek, yöntemin günümüz tiyatrosunda nasıl bir karşılık bulduğu ve geleceğe nasıl ilham verebileceği üzerine çıkarımlarda bulunulabilecektir.

This study examines the unique acting method developed by modern theater director Theodoros Terzopoulos and how this method is reflected in staging styles, particularly the aesthetics of stage direction. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek tragedy, Terzopoulos deepens the concept of acting by rethinking body, breath, and voice within a holistic approach. In this respect, he brings a radical perspective not only to the understanding of acting but also to the stage language of stage direction he establishes. This research examines Terzopoulos's method within its historical context and philosophical foundation, then examines the staging preferences, acting style, and stage aesthetics embodied in this method. The acting practice Terzopoulos developed holds great potential for the future of theater and serves as a source of inspiration for younger generations of actors. Therefore, examining Terzopoulos's acting method is also important for exploring methodologies that can shape future artistic practices. The study is structured on the basis of literature review, qualitative research, and play analysis. Through examples from Terzopoulos's directed plays, the elements of direction, such as lighting, music, set, costumes, and actor performance, are evaluated, and the integration of these elements is analyzed. Three of his major tragedies,“The Persians,”“Prometheus Bound,”and“The Trojan Women,”are examined in detail to identify examples of Terzopoulos's method most powerfully reflected on stage. The primary objective of this thesis is not only to introduce Terzopoulos's method theoretically, but also to reveal its practical implications through his staged works and testimonies. This will allow for a clearer appreciation of Terzopoulos's contributions to theatrical art, and to draw conclusions about how his method is perceived in contemporary theater and how it may inspire the future.
