Özet
Mekânın geçmişi, insanlık tarihi kadar eskidir. Zamanın başlangıcından günümüze uzanan süreçte insanın mekân ihtiyacı, birçok yapının inşa edilmesine yol açmıştır ve özellikle bu mekânlardan bazıları, bireylerin ve toplumların hayatında ayrı bir yere sahip olmuştur. Tarihî mekân kapsamında değerlendirilen antik, kutsal, askerî, idari, eğitsel ve ticari nitelikteki söz konusu mimari yapılar, tarihte yaşanan birçok olaya tanıklık etmeleri nedeniyle hem bireysel hem de kolektif hafıza bağlamında oldukça önemli bir bilgi ve veri kaynağı oluşturmuştur. Sanatçılar da ürettikleri eserleriyle geçmişin izlerini bugüne taşıyarak bu bilgi birikimine önemli katkılar sunmuştur. Dolayısıyla sanatçıları etkileyen tarihî mekânlar, sanat tarihi boyunca üretilen yapıtlarda yoğun bir şekilde işlenmiştir. Türk ressamların eserlerinde de kendine yer bulan tarihî mekânlar, Batı sanatına paralel olarak genellikle figüratif yaklaşımdaki kompozisyonları destekleyen birer yardımcı eleman veya resmin ana konusu olarak kurgulanmıştır. Fakat bu mekânların ele alınış biçimlerinde, dönem ve sanatçılar özelinde çeşitli benzerlik ve farklılıklar meydana gelmiştir.“Türk Resim Sanatında Tarihî Mekânın Görsel Temsili ve İçerik Bağlamında İncelenmesi”başlıklı bu sanatta yeterlik eser metninde; tarihî mekânların sanatçıların yapıtlarında nasıl ve ne şekilde ele alındığını gösterebilmek için, öncelikle teorik olarak mekânın farklı bağlamlarda tanımı yapılmıştır. Ardından, mekânın hafıza ve tinsellik ile olan ilişkisi irdelenmiş, tarihî mekân ve tarihî mekân türleri alt başlıklar altında açılarak konu detaylandırılmaya başlanmıştır. Takip eden bölümde,“Batı Sanatında Tarihî Mekân Kullanımına Genel Bir Bakış”başlığı altında; Rönesans'tan XX. yüzyıla ve XX. yüzyıldan sonraki sürece, sanatçıların tarihî mekânlara üslupsal yaklaşım ve yorumlamaları üzerinden odaklanılmıştır. Bu kısımda, seçili sanatçıların söz konusu mekânlarla ilişkilendirilen betimlemeleri örneklendirilerek ifade biçimleri analiz edilmiştir. Türk resmindeki tarihî mekân kullanımı ise Batı sanatı incelemesine paralel bir araştırma yöntemiyle; Cumhuriyet öncesi ve Cumhuriyet dönemi olmak üzere iki temel bölümde irdelenmiştir. Eser metninin son bölümünde ise tarihî mekânların Oğulcan Öz'ün resimlerindeki ele alınışı, Batı ve Türk resmi ile ilişkisi üzerinden düşünsel, biçimsel ve estetik bağlamda karşılaştırılarak benzeştiği ve ayrıştığı noktaların sorgulanması üzerinde durulmuştur.

The history of place is as old as the history of humanity. In the process extending from the beginning of time to the present, the human need for place has led to the construction of many structures, and some of these in particular have held a distinct place in the lives of individuals and societies. Within the scope of historical places, these architectural structures of ancient, sacred, military, administrative, educational, and commercial nature have constituted a highly significant source of information and data in the context of both individual and collective memory, as they have witnessed numerous historical events. Artists have also made significant contributions to this accumulation of knowledge by carrying the traces of the past to the present through the works they produce. Therefore, historical places that influence artists have been extensively depicted in the works produced throughout the history of art. Historical places, which are also featured in the works of Turkish painters, have been designed as auxiliary elements supporting figurative compositions or as the main subject of the painting, generally in parallel with Western art. However, various similarities and differences have emerged in the ways these places are handled, specifically regarding periods and individual artists. In this proficiency in art thesis titled“Visual Representation of Historical Places in Turkish Painting and its Analysis in the Context of Content”, the definition of place has first been established theoretically in different contexts to demonstrate how and in what manner historical places are addressed in the works of artists. Subsequently, the relationship of place with memory and spirituality was examined, and the subject was further detailed by expanding on historical places and their types under subheadings. In the following section, under the heading“A General Overview of the Use of Historical Places in Western Art,”historical places have been focused upon through the stylistic approaches and interpretations of artists from the Renaissance to the 20th century and the subsequent period. In this section, the modes of expression of selected artists have been analyzed by exemplifying their depictions associated with the places in question. The use of historical places in Turkish painting, on the other hand, has been scrutinized in two main sections, such as the Pre-Republic and the Republican periods, employing a research method parallel to the analysis of Western art. In the final section of the thesis, the handling of historical places in Oğulcan Öz's paintings has been emphasized by comparing them with Western and Turkish painting in conceptual, formal, and aesthetic contexts, and by questioning the points of convergence and divergence.
